Did you know, Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) in Ontario do much more than assist during appointments?! 🐾
🐾 Meet Your Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) 🐾
RVTs are regulated animal healthcare professionals.
To become an RVT in Ontario, individuals must complete an accredited veterinary technology program, successfully pass a national licensing examination, and maintain their professional registration through continuing education and professional standards.
RVTs are highly trained professionals that are accountable for the care they provide and are committed to delivering safe, compassionate, and evidence-based patient care.
When your pet visits our clinic, an RVT may be the first healthcare professional to assess them, gather important information, and help ensure they receive the best possible care.
Their training allows them to perform a wide range of important healthcare services, including:
✔ Wellness assessments and health screenings
✔ Laboratory sample collection and testing
✔ Dental procedures and dental radiographs
✔ Anesthesia monitoring and surgical
✔ Nursing care and treatments
✔ Medication administration and treatments
✔ Nutrition and weight management support
✔ Client education and preventive healthcare guidance
✔ Puppy and kitten care guidance
✔ Senior pet monitoring
✔ Preventive healthcare recommendations
✔ Answering questions about your pet’s care
A RVT wellness appointment is a great opportunity to discuss your pet’s health, lifestyle, nutrition, mobility, behaviour, and preventive care needs. These appointments help us monitor ongoing health concerns, identify changes early, support healthy aging, and keep your pet feeling their best
When you meet with a RVT, you can feel confident knowing your pet is in the hands of a knowledgeable, licensed professional who is dedicated to their health and well-being.
