What happened to a night out with friends?

We seem to have no trouble selling online raffle tickets, but when it comes to in person fundraisers, we have been struggling since 2020. We still have a number of tables left for Raise the Woof Comedy Night and we are only a week away!

Our ability to say yes to every animal who needs us is only possible if we can raise the funds. The less we raise at events, the more we have to say no to the animals, and that’s not something we want to do.

If you’d like individual tickets or a table for next Saturday, visit the link below. And if you’re on the fence, just remember that you are doing it for the animals!🐾

Stubby Tubby was posted as coming soon a few weeks ago and the applications came pouring in! After sorting through the chaos, Stubby has ended up with zero meet and greets. 😆
Sometimes that happens. We'll call it the shelter version of window shopping.

So we're going to post him again!

What's one word his foster would use to describe him? Easy!

He was potty trained at the get-go, totally okay alone in the house and gets along with everyone he meets.

He's a petite little dude who would be content with a daily walk, some couch cuddles and then he's ready for a snooze. Oh and he's good with cats and dogs.

Fill out an application online if you'd like to meet him!

Shelter Update & Urgent Need

We will start with the good news! 🌞

Most of the kittens dealing with PanLeuk are doing well! They are active, gaining weight and bright. Our staff have been able to reduce their twice daily, 3 hour cleans, to once per day, which has been a huge relief.

The not so great news.👎

One of the poor kittens, Cyclone, is not doing well. He's in foster care with one of our amazing vet techs, and is not gaining any weight, despite around the clock care. We are still hopeful he will turn a corner.

The other not so great news.

We cannot intake any cats. 🛑

The 8 kittens in our intake room are doing great, but unfortunately, they can shed the virus for up to one year. This means we cannot intake any cats from the pound or our waitlist, as many of the cats we bring into the shelter are usually unvaccinated or their health is comprised.

These affected kittens are able to go into homes with other vaccinated, healthy cats, but we have had ZERO fosters step forward. This means we are at a complete standstill for cat intakes at the shelter.

We have a number of cats waiting to come in on our waitlist that could also go into foster care, but have had no interest either. This puts us in an incredibly challenging position.

Our ask for this week? FOSTERS.
We urgently need fosters to either:
• Take 1-2 of the recovered kittens
• Take cats from our waitlist
• Offload kittens from some of our fosters

If you have an extra room or even a bathroom that can house a cat or two, please fill out an application online!

Meet Frito, our Voth Family Therapy Cat of the Week! 🐾

Frito is the kind of cat who will find your feet the moment you sit down and claim them as his own. Whether you’re on the couch or in bed, he will be there. He also has very strong opinions about meal time and will make sure you don’t forget it.

His foster report is pretty glowing. Within hours of arriving at his foster home, he had already made friends with a very hyper large dog and claimed a spot in the bed. His foster put it best: if he can get along with her dog, he can get along with any dog.

He loves chin scratches, ear scratches, catnip, his cat tower, and apparently fetch. He does have a thing for fabric chairs and their structural integrity, but he’s very cooperative about nail trims when treats are involved!

Frito would do well in a home with other pets for company and a relatively calm environment. If you’d like to meet him, give us a call! 🐾

Do you remember our Momma with 9 babies?

It's been a few weeks since we've shared an update about them and they have grown so much.

Mom worked incredibly hard to keep all 9 of her babies fed, clean and warm. Their foster monitored their weight daily, and despite having to care for such a large litter, all the kittens steadily gained weight and are healthy.

They are about 5.5 weeks old now and have been weaning onto kitten food in the last few days. What a relief for Mom! Their foster shared that the kittens have a serious appetite and are going through 5 cans of wet food per day. 😅

We want to thank everyone who made a donation when we first shared their story. Thanks to you, we were able to place a large order of litter and a few cases of wet food, which this big crew will quickly devour. Best of all, Mom will be spayed and will no longer have to live on the streets having litter after litter.

Stay tuned, these orange balls of fluff will be available for adoption next month!
