Halifax’s beloved Gus the gopher tortoise is preparing to undergo surgery at 104 years old. 🐢❤️ Veterinarians first discovered a urinary stone in 2009 and had been monitoring it because it wasn’t causing him discomfort. A recent CT scan showed the stone has grown and is beginning to press on surrounding tissue, prompting the decision to remove it. A newer, less invasive technique means surgeons won’t need to cut through his shell.
