🐾 Is your pet celebrating a birthday soon? 🐾

Birthdays are the perfect excuse to spoil our fluffy family members a little bit extra! Whether your pet is turning 1 or 15, there are plenty of safe and fun ways to make their special day memorable.

Here are a few birthday ideas:
Treat them to a pet-safe birthday cake or special treat (one of our staff members even has a special birthday song for her cat)
Surprise them with a new toy
Visit their favorite park or take an extra-long walk
Have a birthday photoshoot and capture the memories
Most importantly, spend quality time together - it's their favorite gift!

Remember to avoid sharing human foods that may be harmful to pets, such as chocolate, grapes, raisins, onions, and xylitol-containing treats.

As the Fall approaches, we are happy to announce that September is Happy Cat Month!

We all love to spoil our cats and treat them like royalty. But sometimes, they’d much rather sit in the cardboard box than play with the fancy toy we bought them!

This is Links, one of our staff member’s cats, enjoying some sunshine after a very exciting outdoor adventure. Mom let him sniff a garbage bin (don’t worry, he didn’t eat anything! ), chase a bug, roll in the grass, and then he got to leave his fur all over Dad’s clothes. Clearly, he had the perfect day!

🐾 Meet Chewie! 🐾

We’d also like to introduce you to one of the newest members of the South Peel Veterinary Hospital team, Isabella! Although she’s fairly new to South Peel, she’s been doing an amazing job and we’re so happy to have her as part of our team.

And then there’s her beautiful girl, Chewie! Chewie is incredibly affectionate… but, of course, only on her terms. She loves attention when she decides it’s time for cuddles, and one of her favourite things to do is keep Isabella company during mealtimes.

We’re pretty sure Chewie considers herself Isabella’s official lunch supervisor!

We’re so happy to have Isabella and Chewie as part of the South Peel family!

🖤 Black Cats: Myth vs. Reality 🖤

Today is Black Cat Appreciation Day, and we think it's the perfect time to bust one of the oldest myths around!

❌ Myth: Black cats are bad luck.

✅ Reality: Black cats are affectionate, intelligent, playful, and make incredible companions. The only "bad luck" is how often they're overlooked in shelters simply because of their coat colour.

At South Peel Veterinary Hospital, we know every cat is special. If you've ever loved a black cat, tell us one word that describes them. Was it goofy, cuddly, mischievous, chatty, independent, or something completely different?
