A heartfelt thank-you to our incredibly generous clients who have already contributed to our Farley Foundation fundraiser! With the support of the families of Lexi, Ruby, Nimitz, Jesse, Remi, Reed, Simba, and Jack, we have already passed the halfway point toward our goal—and it’s only October 2nd! We’re thrilled by this momentum and confident that, together, we’ll surpass our goal in no time.

And there’s another great way to help: throughout October, all nail trims are half-price, with every dollar raised going directly toward our donation goal.

The fun continues with our bake sale beginning October 5th, followed by raffles later this month featuring some fantastic prizes!

We were also delighted to receive an amazing donation of fabulous hand-knit blankets from Black Dog Crochet yesterday. They’re already a staff favourite, so be sure to get yours before they’re gone! A variety of sizes is available.

Hello, my name is Trouble but foster mom is calling me Trudy because she says Trouble is such an unbecoming name for a sweet, gorgeous girl like me. I am looking forward to meeting you and getting my own family. I am a long-haired mini dachshund and about 8 pounds. My coat is like silk. I am estimated to be about 4 years old. I have a fair amount of energy but I can also settle. I am spayed and had a dental when I lost several teeth. My mouth feels so much better. I am up-to-date on vaccinations and microchipped.

I am getting used to my new name. While I will sit in your lap, I am happy to be on my own. I am afraid of sharp noises so you need to be patient while I learn to trust and build my confidence. Foster mom thinks I will want to snuggle as I get comfortable. While I haven’t met any children, foster mom thinks I would be fine with respectful children.

House trained is a work in progress so you will need to help me to learn to go outside. I am okay in the car and I am getting used to being on a leash. I have figured out stairs and l like to wander in the yard so if you have a fenced yard, that would be great. Foster mom isn’t sure if I will come in on my own so I drag a long leash.

Foster mom has two small dogs and several cats. I am comfortable with the dogs and I ignore the cats. I haven’t met any large dogs so foster mom thinks I would be okay but she isn’t sure.

While foster mom is out, I am loose with the other dogs. Foster mom tried leaving me by myself and I climbed the baby gate to get with the other dogs. At night, I will sleep on the floor beside your bed but I would rather be on the big bed with you. Foster mom has a big dog bed that I like to sleep in.

The ideal home for me could have another dog and can even have a cat. If you have a fenced yard that would be a bonus. If you have respectful children, I would be okay with that.

🐓WE HAVE A ROOSTER🐓

Yes, you read that correctly. A rooster.

While our usual residents are busy worrying about treats, toys, couches, and whether the human staff are doing their jobs correctly, this gentleman has apparently decided that the shelter is now his farm.

He has one job. Make noise.

And honestly? He takes that responsibility VERY seriously. 📢🐓

We’re not entirely sure what his five-year plan is, but we’re fairly confident it involves:

🌅 Waking everyone up
📣 Making several important announcements
🐔 Supervising anyone who happens to be nearby
👀 Keeping a very close eye on his surroundings
💼 Taking his position as Head of Farm Operations extremely seriously

He may not be what you expected to see when you checked our adoptable animals today…

But here we are.

Rooster. At the animal shelter. Looking for a place to call home.

If you’ve got the space, the appropriate setup, and an appreciation for a gentleman who believes everyone needs to know exactly what time it is, this handsome guy might just be your newest roommate.

Feature Friday = Sweet and special spaniel Miss Misty! Which toy will she choose? She's looking over her choices carefully before making the big decision 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ What's her tick list you ask:

✅A house with a fenced yard
✅Patient, kind adopters
✅Understanding her history (she is from a Mennonite mill and can still be skittish at times, not aggressive though)
✅Keeping a close eye on her ears (Spaniel ears are notorious for needing oversight to avoid infection)
✅An adopter who is home more often than not to keep up her housetraining and schedule
✅A trustworthy adopter who will always be there for her
