🐾 **Monterini at the TICA Show in Toronto, Ontario! 🇨🇦

We are spending this weekend in Ontario at a TICA show, and this time our cattery is represented by four kittens, all proudly bred by Monterini:

✨ Finlandia Monterini, 6 months
✨ Jagger Monterini, 5 months

The first day is already behind us, and we are absolutely thrilled with the results!❤️

It is incredibly rewarding to see our Monterini babies growing up, stepping into the show ring and showing what we have been working toward through our breeding program for so many years.

One more show day to go, so we are keeping our fingers crossed for our four little Monterini! 🐾

With the heaviest of hearts, we have to say goodbye to Tessa 🖤
There are moments when being a breeder feels incredibly painful. This is one of them.
Cats are masters at hiding when something is wrong. They can continue to eat, interact, and behave almost normally even when something serious is happening inside. And by the time they finally show us that they are truly unwell, sometimes it is already too late.
Just two weeks ago, Tessa became unwell. She was seen by veterinarians several times, but initially nothing pointed to anything more serious than a gastrointestinal problem, and she was treated accordingly.
Two days ago, after repeating her tests and doing further diagnostics, we finally received the devastating answer. Tessa had cancer, and unfortunately it was already at a terminal stage.
There was nothing we could do to save her.
Tessa was only a 2 year old. She was an absolutely beautiful girl, but her beauty was only one small part of what made her special. She had a wonderful temperament and was an amazing mother to our E litter. She gave her kittens not only her beautiful looks, but also her sweet and loving nature. This is an enormous loss for Natalie and her family, who loved and cared for Tessa every single day. It is also a devastating loss for all of us at Monterini. We are shocked. We are heartbroken. And we are still trying to understand how a beautiful, young cat who was here with us just two weeks ago could suddenly be gone. Tessa deserved so many more years.
Run free, beautiful girl. You will always be a part of Monterini and forever remain in the hearts of everyone who loved you 🤍

🚨 PLEASE HELP FIND WI******ER 🚨

Wi******er has been missing since July 17 from Cannon Rock Lane. His family has been searching for him continuously for three weeks and is doing everything possible to bring him home.

He is a 1.5-year-old Maine C**n mix, brown tabby, with beautiful green eyes. He was recently given a summer haircut, so his coat is currently shorter than usual.

He is microchipped.

If you live in the area, please keep an eye out for him around homes, garages, sheds, decks and other places where a frightened cat might hide.

We are especially asking anyone who works at or visits a veterinary clinic, animal shelter or rescue to please watch for a cat matching Wi******er's description. A Maine C**n-type cat with those distinctive green eyes is not something easily overlooked.

Since I have couple available minutes at the moment, I thought I’d share a little story.
When one of my future families first contacted me, I have to admit I was a little surprised by how much verification they wanted. Documents, references, a video call... basically everything at once😄
At the time I remember thinking, Wow, these people are VERY careful.
Only later, after they had already chosen to get their kitten from me, did I learn the reason. They told me about someone who had previously tried to sell them a Maine C**n kitten. The daughter had asked this person for additional photos of the kitten, including a photo of him in a different setting, just to make sure that the kitten actually existed. And these are the photos she received.
When she eventually showed them to me, I laughed much harder than I probably should have. 😂Apparently, the kitten did travel to another location... without actually moving anywhere.
But after I stopped laughing, I realized there is a serious side to this story.
For someone who spends every day looking at cats and kitten photos, something like this may immediately raise questions. But not everyone knows what to look for. And today, with Photoshop, image editing and especially AI becoming more sophisticated, it is getting increasingly difficult for an ordinary buyer to tell the difference between a legitimate breeder and someone who has simply assembled a convincing online presence. Suddenly, all those questions this family had asked me made perfect sense.
So now, when someone asks me for documents, references, additional photos or a video call, I understand where that caution may be coming from.
A beautiful kitten photo is no longer proof that the kitten exists.
Please do your homework when choosing a breeder. Ask questions. Ask for documentation. Check references. Look at the breeder’s history and online presence. And if you need reassurance, ask for a video call.
A responsible breeder may have boundaries, especially when it comes to visits for biosecurity reasons, but they should also understand why responsible buyers want to know who they are dealing with.
And sometimes asking for “one more photo, please” can produce something truly unforgettable. 😂
