At the Minden Animal hospital, it is clear we’re all animal lovers with 40+ pets between us. Each staff member is dedicated to making your pets’ visit to the hospital as anxiety free as possible. This may explain why so many of our clients tell us that their dogs happily run to the door of the hospital, and pull their owners down the hall to our exam rooms for their weigh in and examination. We tr

eat them like our own animals and want their visit with us to be stress free and fun even if they are having procedures they do not want. At the Minden Animal Hospital you will find proactive wellness exams to prevent many health crises, acting on small problems before they become big ones. Instead of treating symptoms, the cause of the problem is addressed and your animals get better in far less time. Education on preventive measures to keep pets healthy or to catch problems early on, helps your pets live longer and healthier lives. This full service clinic offers internal medicine; surgery, dentistry, radiology, in- house diagnostics, comfort priority protocols including therapeutic laser treatments, pharmacy on site, alternative medicine, house calls, specialist referrals (or they travel to our hospital) and second mile service, with a smile, every time you come in. Because sometimes illness in our pets happens at an inopportune time and financing some treatment plans can be tough, we offer payment plans and credit care for our clients. Professional chair tester? ✅ 💤

Meet Agatha.

This 5-month old kitten arrived for her pre-surgical appointment, took one look around, and said, "Perfect. I'll be unconscious now, thanks." 😸

No anxiety. No concerns. No thoughts. Just ✨nap ✨

She sampled several sleeping positions (strict quality control, obviously), and proceeded to snooze like she was paying rent.

Meanwhile, we were over here trying to discuss surgery plans while Agatha was busy demonstrating the advanced kitten philosophy of "If I fits... I sleeps... immediately." 😴

🐾11/10 patient.
🐾0/10 contribution to productivity.

Safe to say she passed her most important pre-op test: being ridiculously adorable. 😉😇

Things Earl accomplished during his very first visit to MAH:

✔ Made friends with everyone.
✔Attempted to cuddle everyone.
✔Forgot he was here for a medical appointment.
✔Wiggled with such intensity that photography became nearly impossible.
✔Stole approximately 17 hearts in under 30 minutes.

Earl is our adorable new Border Collie patient, and we're obsessed already.😍

This sweet boy has a chronic condition, but if you watched him today you'd think his only medical concern was an overwhelming allergy to standing still. He's just... happy. Ridiculously, unapologetically, infectiously happy.

Today we met Earl, his wonderful mom, & two human sisters he adores. We ran his bloodwork so we can continue managing his condition, and welcomed them both to the MAH family. 🥰✨

As for this photo... let's just say it was attempt number six. The first five contained either a blur, an ear, a tongue, or Earl enthusiastically trying to climb into someone's lap. 😂

Would we do it all again?

Absolutely. 🥹

Minden Animal Hospital will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, July 1st, so our team can celebrate Canada Day, eat snacks, and pretend our pets aren’t judging our outfits. 😇

Need medication, food, or supplies? Please give us a call today so your pet doesn’t file a formal complaint during the holiday closure.

If an emergency or unexpected situation pops up, don’t panic- call our clinic number 24/7 to speak with a Registered Veterinary Technician who can provide guidance, triage your pet's situation, and help you determine the next best step. 🫶

Steve understood the assignment... he just chose not to participate. 😁

Our favourite walking moose (Wolfhound) stopped by for his annual wellness exam, vaccines, and yearly 4Dx test to make sure he's protected from heartworm and tick-borne diseases. 💉🐾

Taking his photo required:
• 5 staff members
• 14 failed attempts
• Unlimited treats
• One person making questionable squeaky noises
• Steve looking literally everywhere except the camera.

At one point we considered hanging the camera from the ceiling since that's about eye level for him. 📸😉

He's taller than our exam tables, has absolutely no concept of personal space, and somehow manages to convince every single one of us that he's actually a lap dog, but we would happily wrestle Steve into one blurry photo any day.

We absolutely adore this big, gentle, goofy sweetheart! 🥰🐾

O Canada... and O Canada Day is coming! 🍁

Minden Animal Hospital will be closed on Wednesday, July 1st so our team can enjoy some well-deserved time with family, friends, and perhaps a few extra treats. 🌭😎

We will reopen for regular business hours on Thursday, July 2nd.

If your pet decides that Canada Day is the perfect time to eat something questionable, chase a porcupine, or invent a brand-new emergency, please call our hospital number. Milly spent her surgery day in true VIP style! 🐾✨

After settling into our heated VIP suite, This sweet 2-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer spent the day supervising staff from her front-row seat, carefully monitoring clinic operations and judging everyone's performance. 🧐

When she wasn't overseeing the chaos, she upgraded to the executive office, where she enjoyed window views from Dr. Jenn's office and collected quality-control snuggles directly from the boss herself. Naturally, she was not distracting at all. We definitely didn't find ourselves making our way to her suite just to say hello, give her a cuddle, or tell her how pretty she was. Not once. 👀😅

We couldn't have asked for a braver or sweeter patient💕 She was an absolute superstar for her procedure and charmed everyone she met along the way. We hope you're enjoying lots of rest, treats, and cuddles at home, Milly! 🥰🥹🐾

Sophie, our 5-year-old Bengal supermodel, arrived today looking absolutely stunning as always. With her striking green eyes, gorgeous coat, and enough attitude to power a small city, she made sure everyone knew exactly how she felt about being here. 🙃

From the moment we entered the room, she informed us loudly and repeatedly that we were unwelcome. There was growling. There were complaints. There were strongly worded Bengal opinions being shared with anyone within a 3 km radius.

Historically, Sophie has required sedation for her yearly bloodwork due to her chronic medical condition. Today, however, she chose a different path.

✨Was she happy about it? Absolutely not.
✨Did she voice her concerns? Continuously.
✨Did it require extra hands, extra time, strategic planning, and probably a small amount of emotional support for mom and the staff? Yes.

But somehow, against all odds, we successfully collected both blood and urine samples WITHOUT sedation! 🎉

Sophie was incredibly brave, even if she spent the entire process threatening to leave us terrible online reviews. Her mom was also incredibly brave while helping us get the samples we need to monitor Sophie's health and keep her feeling her best.

We know these tests aren't Sophie's favourite activity, but they're an important part of managing chronic conditions and making sure everything stays on track. 🥹

We're so proud of Sophie today! Now if you'll excuse us, we're going to spend the rest of the afternoon trying to get back into her good books. (We don't have high hopes.) 🐾❤️

🌈🐾 National Pet Memorial Day 🐾🌈

Today, we pause to remember the pets who may no longer be by our side, but whose paw prints remain forever on our hearts.

They were our best friends, our adventure buddies, our comfort on difficult days, and our greatest source of unconditional love. Though their time with us was never long enough, the memories they gave us last a lifetime.

Today we honor every wagging tail, every gentle purr, every happy bark, and every cherished companion who helped shape our lives for the better.
