🚨 THIS IS YOUR FINAL THANKSGIVING WARNING! 🦃

We’re here until 7:00 p.m. tonight, so now is the time to grab medication refills, food, supplies or anything else your pet conveniently forgot to mention earlier this week.

Please check your cupboards, count those pills and consult your tiny furry household manager—because discovering an empty medication bottle on Sunday evening is not the kind of holiday surprise anyone ordered. 👀

We will be CLOSED Monday, October 12 and will reopen Tuesday, October 13 for our regular hours—slightly more stuffed and approximately 80% mashed potato.

🐔Meet Chicken Joe, A.K.A Joey!

This 5-month-old sheepdog mix came in for his final booster, and BOY OH BOY was he happy to see us. 😁
Joey’s excitement comes with a little bonus feature: happy pees. A wiggle here, a greeting there… and suddenly we’re mopping up evidence of a very good time. We don’t mind one bit, Joey—we’re just honoured to be loved that much. 🥰

But how could we mind when that fluffy face is just bursting with joy? Joey powered through his booster like a champ, spread happiness wherever he went, and left us all smiling (and mopping). 😂

Can't wait to see you again buddy! Way to go, Chicken Joe! 💉🐾

Thanksgiving Closure Reminder 🍂

Minden Animal Hospital will be CLOSED on Monday, October 12 so our team can eat an irresponsible amount of mashed potatoes and explain to our pets—again—that Thanksgiving dinner is not a shared plate situation. 👀

PLEASE, please contact us before Friday, October 9 if you need:

🩺 Veterinary care
🐾Food, supplies or preventatives
📋Anything else your pet may suddenly remember they need

We will reopen on Tuesday, October 13 for our regular hours—slightly more stuffed, but ready to help!

Only 28% of after-hours calls are true medical emergencies. Pets, unfortunately, are terrible at explaining whether they need immediate care or are simply committed to creating chaos during a long weekend.

Meet brave little Stanley. 💛🐾

At just eight weeks old, this sweet Golden Retriever came to us feeling very, very sick. Stanley was severely dehydrated, lethargic, anemic and experiencing diarrhea—so our team knew we needed to work quickly.

His family left him in our care for the day, but made sure he had his blanket and favourite stuffed animal for comfort. 🥹 An IV catheter was placed so he could receive fluids and antibiotics while we monitored him closely and ran diagnostic testing to determine what was making him so unwell.

The culprit? Giardia! 🐛

Giardia is a microscopic intestinal parasite that can cause severe diarrhea, lethargy, poor appetite and weight loss. It can be especially dangerous for young puppies because their tiny bodies can become dehydrated very quickly—just as Stanley did.

Once the fluids started working their magic and Stanley began feeling a little better, he decided he was deeply offended by the kennel accommodations. 😋 So, he enjoyed a little walk around the clinic while our team performed some very enthusiastic happy dances over his improvement, which he found very entertaining. 💃 😁

Thankfully, Stanley was able to go home with all the medications he needed, along with plenty of love from his very worried family. We are SO happy to report that he is feeling much better and is back to being his happy, playful little self! 🥰

You gave everyone quite the scare, Stanley—but you handled it like the bravest little golden boy. ❤🐾

Chester is a certified attention thief!

This ridiculously sweet 14-week-old boy visited us for his second kitten exam and spent the entire appointment reaching for anyone nearby—as if to say, “Excuse me, your hands appear to be available for petting.” 🐾

Chester received his dewormer, parasite prevention, and a complimentary 30-day Trupanion trial through the Exam Day Offer. Basically, he left protected, pampered, and fully convinced the entire clinic belongs to him.

We’ll see you again soon, sweet boy! ❤🥹

👂 Understands that if Breanna doesn't respond, she's not ignoring you-her hearing aids just aren't on

🚨 PLEASE KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR LUNA 🚨

Our hearts are incredibly heavy for this family, who lost everything in a devastating house fire on Sunday. At this time, it is unclear if their beloved cat Luna escaped the fire but we are holding onto hope that Luna managed to escape from the home.

Luna may be frightened and hiding nearby in garages, sheds, under decks or around neighbouring properties. If you live in the area of Scotch Line, please check these spaces carefully and keep an eye out for her.

Description: 7 yr old, Blue point ragdoll, approximately 10lbs. wearing a light blue collar with a bright pink tag.

Please do not chase Luna. Take a photo, note her location and contact us immediately 705-286-2919. However, if you are able to SAFELY contain her, please bring her directly to us at 4 Booth St Minden.

We are very hopeful that Luna made it out safely and can be reunited with her family.

HEY, I’M BACK! 👋😁

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve introduced you guys to one of our adorable patients, so obviously I had to come back with Steel. 🐾😍

Steel is a 15-week-old German Shepherd who came in today for his final puppy visit—and can we PLEASE talk about those ears?! 👀 They’ve decided standing upright is overrated and crossing over the top of his head is much more fashionable.

This growing boy has gained almost 15 lbs in ONE MONTH. Apparently all that growing has gone everywhere except into his ears. 😆

Today Steel finished up his puppy vaccines, including his Lyme vaccine, and headed home with his heartworm, tick & flea prevention.

Between the treats, cuddles and attention, we’re not entirely convinced he even realized he saw the doctor today. 😂

10/10 good boy. 15/10 ears. 🐾💚
