Today, on International Missing Children’s Day, OSARC stands with the families, advocates, and organizations working tirelessly to protect children and bring missing children home safely.
We acknowledge and support the important work of ICMEC (International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children) in raising global awareness, supporting prevention efforts, and strengthening child protection worldwide.
Every child deserves safety, protection, and the chance to be found.

Today, OSARC stands in recognition of National Red Dress Day, honouring Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people.
Red dresses, often left empty, are powerful symbols of those who are no longer with us and those who are still missing. They remind us of the ongoing impacts of violence and the importance of continued awareness, advocacy, and action.
At OSARC, this commitment is reflected in the work we do alongside communities. Our specialized K9 teams are trained in Historical Human Remains Detection, supporting the search for missing persons and unmarked graves in a respectful, non-invasive way.
We have had the honour of working with Indigenous communities, including participation in the Wauzhushk Onigum Nation Survivors Initiative in Kenora, where we assisted in searches connected to former residential school sites.
OSARC remains committed to supporting truth, healing, and the careful, respectful search for those who have yet to be brought home.

We’re proud to share that OSARC will be presenting at the Canadian Universities for Forensic Science 2026 Conference.

Our team, Heather Fraser and Sherri Hall, have been selected for a scientific poster presentation titled:

“Single-Purpose Historic Human Remains Detection Dogs: Low-Threshold Olfactory Detection in Historic and Forensic Contexts.”

We are honoured to be included among such outstanding researchers and practitioners, and to contribute to advancing the science behind historic human remains detection and canine search work.
