The best daycares aren't necessarily the busiest—they're the ones where dogs feel secure enough to relax and settle comfortably on their own.

Rest and decompression are just as important as exercise, mental stimulation and play. These quiet moments give dogs the opportunity to recharge, regulate their emotions, and process their experiences throughout the day. While constant activity, endless playing, and highly stimulating environments may appear exciting, too much arousal can lead to stress, overstimulation, and unwanted behaviours.

By creating a balanced day through structured activities, rest periods, one-on-one attention, and purposeful breaks, we can help dogs go home after daycare feeling calm, confident, and content. 🐾

📌 Attention Clients

This is a friendly reminder of our upcoming daycare closure dates, along with an additional date to add to your calendars.

Daycare will be closed:
July 1–2
August 10–21

We would also like to give advance notice that we will be heading to New Orleans & Caribbean from January 27 to February 7. 🐊

To our annual winter vacationers that require boarding services, please keep these dates in mind when booking your travel plans, as boarding will not be available during this period. (Daycare will be closed as well).

As always thank you for your continued support and understanding. We hope everyone stays cool this weekend! 😎

📌 Notice: Boarding Services Are Now Paused

We officially send home our final boarding guest this morning. Boarding services are now paused for the summer season to allow for some dedicated family time. Dog daycare services will continue to operate as usual.

We will not be taking any new bookings from June through the end of August. Normal boarding operations and booking availability will resume in September. Thank you to all our wonderful clients for your understanding and continued support. We look forward to booking your pups again in the fall.

With warmest regards,
The Crossman’s. 🐾

Here's a flashy trick that the Camp K9 crew learned one year ago today. It might look hard at first but when you break it down in steps, you will realize it’s rather easy! 🙃

Teaching tricks helps improve a dog’s body awareness while also strengthening the bond and communication between dog and handler. Because tricks are taught using shaping and positive reinforcement, dogs also develop valuable problem-solving skills. They learn how to learn, which supports success in other areas of training as well. Trick training also tends to be highly rewarding with low pressure, which makes it a great way to build their confidence.

Sleeping beauties. Our mornings are focused on physical exercise, then we have a midday nap to rest and recharge. After this important part of the day, everyone is ready to use their brains for some mental exercise for afternoon.

Dog socialization does not mean play all day and exhaustion should not be the measure of success for a dog daycare. This only builds an over-aroused, adrenaline ju**ie that gets harder and harder to tire out. Motion is easy. Stillness is hard. When a dog can self-regulate and relax in a group of other dogs in a calm, respectful way, this is what we call a ‘well socialized’ dog.
