Carbon steel pans are great and last.....

My eggs still stick — do I need to use something in my carbon steel pan?
We hear this one all the time!

Short answer: Yes — and that’s a good thing.

Carbon steel isn’t a no‑oil pan. It’s a 'seasoned' pan, which means it performs best with a little bit of fat to help create that naturally non‑stick surface.

Here’s the secret to perfect eggs in carbon steel:

🥚 Start with a warm pan — not blazing hot, not cold
🧈 Add a touch of fat — butter, ghee, tallow, or your favourite oil
⏳ Let the fat heat up before adding your eggs
✨ Watch them glide

If your eggs are sticking, it’s usually one of three things:
1️⃣ The pan wasn’t hot enough
2️⃣ Not enough fat
3️⃣ Your seasoning is still building (totally normal!)

Carbon steel gets better every time you cook — especially with eggs.
Treat it right, and it’ll outlive every pan in your kitchen.

So it's exciting news that Beef Tallow got a specific mention in the US revised food pyramid. It's only a matter of time before it hits this side of the border. Something so simple and healthy that has many uses.

One of my customers who had a recent tattoo that wasn't healing well thought she would try the Tallow on it. She was very pleased when it healed up nicely with the Tallow.
