A message to our clients 🐾
I normally don’t bring private client matters onto our business page, and I have no intention of sharing personal details. However, due to some recent comments being made publicly about our business, I feel it’s important to clarify our policies and values.
Since taking over The Doggy Resort & Spa, my priority has been — and will continue to be — the safety and wellbeing of every dog entrusted to our care.
We are a dog daycare, not a behavioural rehabilitation or professional dog-training facility. If a dog displays significant aggression or reactivity toward other dogs, we may determine that group daycare is simply not the appropriate environment for them. This does not mean we don’t care about that dog. In fact, sometimes the most responsible and compassionate decision is recognizing when an environment isn’t the right fit.
We will also never place a dog into a group simply because there is an available spot or because someone has paid for daycare. If we don’t have an appropriate group of dogs for a particular dog’s temperament, we will choose safety every single time.
When I purchased the business, I also inherited existing bookings and prepaid passes that had been sold and paid to the previous ownership. I have made every reasonable effort to honour those commitments, even though those payments were not made to me.
Unfortunately, I recently had to make a difficult safety decision regarding a dog who had an existing pass. I have since learned that there were medical circumstances that may have contributed to the dog’s behavioural changes, and my heart genuinely goes out to the family for their loss. However, none of us had that information at the time. I could only make decisions based on the behaviour being presented and my responsibility to the other animals in my care.
I will not compromise the safety of one animal for another, and I will never apologize for putting safety first.
I also won’t engage in public arguments or share private conversations in an attempt to defend myself. Those who know me and trust us with their dogs know how seriously I take that responsibility.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support our business, trusts us with your furry family members, and understands that sometimes responsible pet care means making difficult decisions. ❤️🐾
Their safety will always come before making a dollar.
