🐾 Suncrumb Needs a Little Extra Love 🐾

Sometimes, the animals who need us most can’t tell us what’s wrong. All they can do is look to us for comfort and hope we can help.

Sweet Suncrumb is almost 12 years old and has a bonded sibling. Since coming into our care, she suddenly stopped eating, developed an upset tummy, and just wasn’t herself. Instead of doing the things a cat should be doing, all she wanted was to sit quietly and be cuddled.

We knew something wasn’t right, so we took her to our amazing team at Cypress View Veterinary Clinic. Suncrumb had a fever and is fighting some sort of infection. She’s had bloodwork, X-rays, and an ultrasound, received fluids, and spent a couple of nights at the vet.

The good news is she’s slowly improving, but she’s not out of the woods yet. We’re still trying to find answers and will be giving her lots of extra TLC along the way. ❤️

Suncrumb is just ONE of many medical cases we’ve had lately. We’ve also had a lot of animals come into our care recently needing dental work. These procedures can be costly, but they’re so important to their comfort and quality of life.

As a donation-based shelter, we rely on the generosity of our community to help cover these medical expenses. Behind every bill is an animal who needs us, and we want to give each one the care they deserve.

📣 Diesel has an announcement!📣

This handsome senior gentleman has lost over 5 kg since coming into our care! We are so proud of him!

Diesel loves playing and going for walks, and with the weight coming off, he's able to move around more comfortably. That's especially important for those senior joints of his!

Now, Diesel is still waiting for the most important part of his journey: his furever home. ❤️

He's looking for someone who will continue supporting his weight-loss journey, keep him active at a pace that's right for him, and give him the happy, comfortable life he deserves.

He's worked so hard to get here, and we want to see him continue thriving in a home of his own.

Diesel deserves a family who will cheer him on, celebrate his progress, and love him through every step of the journey. He has already made so much progress, and we'd love to see him continue feeling better and enjoying life with a family to call his own.

🐾Medicine Hat SPCA Wishlist 🐾

Apparently, we have a shelter full of food critics right now! 😂

We have some very picky kitties who are absolutely LOVING Royal Canin Appetite Control cat food. Who are we to argue with the feline food critics?

We also have some cats with sensitive tummies who could really use some digestive-friendly food to help keep their bellies happy.

Our current wishlist includes:

I just wanted to say thanks for giving us the opportunity to adopt Oatmeal almost 3 years ago. He came to us requiring some extra care, but with time, has shown us what a loving and compassionate cat he is, and the extra love and care pays off at giving him a better life.

Nowadays, oatmeal can usually be seen resting on his favorite human’s bed, asking for food, or some snuggle time.

Meet Kristopher - Chaos Coordinator.

Kristopher is a playful little legend with energy for days. If there's something to chase, climb, pounce on, or mysteriously knock over at 3 a.m., he's already three steps ahead of you.

Despite his chaotic tendencies, Kristopher is an incredibly fun and lovable guy who will keep you laughing daily. He would thrive in a home that can provide plenty of playtime, enrichment, and appreciation for his larger-than-life personality.

🐾 October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month!🐾

And we have so many amazing dogs waiting for their forever homes.

Every one of them has their own personality, quirks, silly habits, and of course, their own story. Some are ready to jump right into family life, while others may need a little patience and time to show you just how special they are.

One thing we often hear is that people worry shelter dogs will come with a whole list of problems.

But the truth is, many shelter dogs are simply dogs who have had a tough go and are waiting for someone to give them a second chance.

Once they feel safe, loved, and part of a family, they can form incredible bonds with their people. They want to be with you, make you happy, and show you just how amazing they can be.

Of course, every dog is an individual. Some may need a little extra patience, training, or understanding, but don't let the fact that a dog came from a shelter make you assume they aren't wonderful dogs.

They all have one thing in common — they are waiting for someone to choose them.

Sometimes the dog who needed a second chance ends up being the one who changes your life.
