🐾 Those nails have a story to tell! 🐾

Take a look at this before & after! These nails had become excessively long and were starting to curl sideways, which can become uncomfortable for a dog and affect the way they naturally stand and walk. 🐶💅

And just to be clear — this post is NOT about shaming owners. ❤️ Life gets busy, some dogs absolutely hate having their feet handled, and sometimes nail care gets away from us. That’s exactly why education matters!

Regular nail trims help:
✨ Prevent nails from curling into the paw pads
✨ Reduce pressure and discomfort when walking
✨ Support healthy nail growth
✨ Help maintain proper paw and foot positioning
✨ Make future nail trims easier and less stressful

When nails stay overgrown for a long time, the quick inside the nail can grow longer too. That means we often can’t take them as short as we’d like in one session without causing pain or bleeding. With consistent trims, the quick can gradually recede and we can work toward a healthier nail length. 🐾

Sometimes the best thing you can do is simply start where you are. No judgment — just healthier, more comfortable paws from here on out. 💕

☀️🐾 Summer Adventures Start with Healthy Paws! 🐾☀️

Nothing beats watching our pups enjoy the sunshine—but summer also brings a few extra things to watch out for!

🔥 Hot pavement can burn sensitive paw pads. If it’s too hot for the back of your hand, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws.

🌫️ Smoky days can make it harder for dogs to breathe, too. Keep walks shorter when air quality is poor and make sure they have plenty of fresh water.

💅 And don’t forget about nail care! Overgrown nails can affect your dog’s posture, balance, and comfort—making every summer walk a little less enjoyable. Regular trims help keep your pup moving comfortably all season long.

Whether your dog loves hiking, beach days, or evening strolls, healthy paws make every adventure better. 🐶❤️

💜☀️ Summer is in full swing! ☀️💜

I caught Moka enjoying one of his favourite summer activities… playing fetch! 🎾🐾 (And yes, he always has to do his little happy hop before bringing the ball back. 🥹💜)

As we’re all spending more time outside with our pups, here are a few friendly reminders to help keep them safe and happy:

🌡️ Test the pavement before heading out. If it’s too hot for the back of your hand for 7 seconds, it’s too hot for their paws!

🚗 Never leave your dog in a parked vehicle, even “just for a minute.” Temperatures inside can rise dangerously fast.

🐾 Keep those nails trimmed! Healthy nail length helps your dog run, play, and explore comfortably while reducing the risk of painful cracks, breaks, or torn nails during all those summer adventures.

Have fun, stay safe, and give your pups an extra toss of the ball from Moka and me! 💜🎾

🐾 Friendly paw check reminder! 🐾

I came across this graphic the other day and thought, “This is such great information—I have to share it with my fellow pet parents!” 💜

When’s the last time you checked your pet’s paws?

✨ Do their nails touch the ground when they’re standing?
✨ Do you hear that little “click click click” on hard floors?

If you answered yes, it might be time for a trim!

Keeping nails at a healthy length isn’t just about looks. It helps support natural movement, proper posture, and can reduce unnecessary strain on your pet’s feet, legs, and joints over time.

And please know—there’s absolutely no judgment if your pet’s nails have gotten a little long. Life gets busy, some pets aren’t fans of paw handling, and before you know it, it’s been a while. That’s exactly why I’m here. 💜

My goal is to make nail trims as calm and positive as possible using fear-free handling and plenty of patience, so your pet can leave feeling more comfortable (and hopefully a little more confident, too!). 🐾

The best thing you can do is start slow and make grooming a positive experience from the beginning 💛

✨ Touch paws gently and reward calm behaviour
✨ Introduce nail trimmers slowly
✨ Practice short handling sessions
✨ Use treats, praise, and play
✨ Keep sessions short and positive

Most importantly — always watch for signs of fear, anxiety, and stress (FAS) and respond accordingly 🐾 Things like lip licking, pulling away, freezing, panting, or trembling can all mean your puppy needs a break.

Even pet groomers forget their own dogs’ nails sometimes 🐾💛

Life gets busy, dogs get wiggly, and before you know it the nails are longer than you meant them to be. It happens — the important thing is noticing it and addressing it as soon as possible.

There’s no judgment here. Regular trims help keep your pup comfortable and prevent nails from curling or putting pressure on the toes 🐶✨

Here’s a cute pic of Moka after getting his toes done today 🫧 We always love rewarding positive experiences, so after his nail trim he got to play with bubbles!
