The best thing you can do is start slow and make grooming a positive experience from the beginning 💛

✨ Touch paws gently and reward calm behaviour
✨ Introduce nail trimmers slowly
✨ Practice short handling sessions
✨ Use treats, praise, and play
✨ Keep sessions short and positive

Most importantly — always watch for signs of fear, anxiety, and stress (FAS) and respond accordingly 🐾 Things like lip licking, pulling away, freezing, panting, or trembling can all mean your puppy needs a break.

Life gets busy, dogs get wiggly, and before you know it the nails are longer than you meant them to be. It happens — the important thing is noticing it and addressing it as soon as possible.

There’s no judgment here. Regular trims help keep your pup comfortable and prevent nails from curling or putting pressure on the toes 🐶✨

Summer is finally here ☀️🐶
Which usually means more walks, hikes, beach days, swimming, and outdoor adventures for our dogs.

But one thing that often gets overlooked this time of year? Nail trims 🐾

Long nails can make it harder for dogs to grip slippery docks, patios, or trails, and they’re more likely to crack or tear during all that summer activity. Over time, overgrown nails can also start affecting posture, joints, and overall comfort.

A few signs your dog might be due for a trim:
🐾 nails clicking on the floor
🐾 slipping more often on smooth surfaces
🐾 snagging on blankets or carpets
🐾 excessive paw licking
🐾 nails touching the ground when standing

For most dogs, I usually recommend nail trims every 4–6 weeks depending on their nail growth and activity level.

For appointments where pets are not receiving a nail trim service, a $10 travel fee will apply.

This would apply to standalone services such as ear cleans or a**l gland expressions.

The travel fee is completely waived for pets booked in for nail trims 🐾

This helps cover travel time and allows me to continue offering appointments throughout Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, and surrounding areas while keeping nail trim appointments affordable and accessible for everyone.

Did you know that as cats age, their nails can become thicker, harder, and more prone to becoming ingrown? 🐾

Even cats that use scratching posts regularly can still need frequent nail trims — especially seniors! Overgrown nails can curl into the paw pads and cause pain, discomfort, and mobility issues.

✨ A good rule of thumb:
Cat nails should usually be checked and trimmed every 2–4 weeks.
