Well the frost has hit the ground! It was a fun summer out in the field playing Speedway! Thank you to all that came out and had fun playing with their dogs. I have enjoyed watching all the dogs grow into happier more positive and confident pups! The smiles on the handler faces when they achieved their accomplishments were priceless. Thank you!
We will resume Speedway in the Spring!

Now it is time to bring the classes indoors to the heated facility. We have started our Rally Obedience classes this week and we will continue through out the Winter months. If you are interested in dog classes during the colder months email me at [email protected].๐Ÿพ

If oceans are the last frontier on earth, the dog breeds of India may be among the last in the world to be appreciated. Why, and is this changing? Find out by joining NPDD's new group where we can post links to "the rest of the story." Under our banner, bo to "more," the click on "groups" and see our page.

You may think youโ€™re hiding your frustration from your dog.

Not because your dog can magically read your mind.

Because your dog is incredibly good at reading you.

Your body language changes.
Your tone changes.
Your timing changes.
Your movement changes.
Your leash pressure changes.
Sometimes your reinforcement changesโ€”or disappears altogether.

And your dog notices.

That frustration you think youโ€™re keeping inside can show up in a tighter leash, a sharper cue, a different posture, or simply a handler who isnโ€™t moving quite the same way they were five minutes ago.

And then we wonder why the dog suddenly looks confused, slows down, or makes more mistakes.

Sometimes the dog isnโ€™t the problem.

Sometimes they are simply responding to the change in us.

Learning to recognize your own emotions is just as important as learning to read your dog. I have to keep this reminder close with a running a soft dog.

Because good training isnโ€™t about never getting frustrated.

Itโ€™s about learning what your frustration looks like to your dog. โค๏ธ

A confident dog and a resilient dog are NOT always the same dog.

A confident dog says, โ€œI can handle this.โ€

A resilient dog says, โ€œThat was hardโ€ฆ but I can recover and try again.โ€

A dog can confidently walk into a new environment but completely fall apart when something goes wrong.

And another dog may be cautious at first, take a moment to process, and then recover and move forward.

That second dog may not look as confidentโ€”but they may be incredibly resilient.

Confidence is about how a dog approaches something.

Resilience is about what happens when things donโ€™t go as planned.

And in training, competition, and life, that ability to recover can be just as important as confidence.

Sometimes our job isnโ€™t to make a dog more confident.

Itโ€™s to teach them:
