⚠️ Blue-Green Algae Warning ⚠️

As temperatures start to warm up, we want to remind pet owners to be cautious around lakes, ponds, and slow-moving water. Blue-green algae can appear during warmer months and can be extremely dangerous — and even fatal — to pets if ingested.

The algae may look like:

-green paint or pea soup floating on the water

-blue-green surface scum

-thick algae mats near shorelines

Dogs can be exposed by drinking contaminated water, swimming, or even grooming algae off their fur afterward.

Signs of toxicity can include:

-vomiting or diarrhea

-weakness or collapse

-drooling

-difficulty breathing

-seizures

If you suspect exposure, rinse your pet off immediately and seek veterinary care right away.

When in doubt, keep pets out of water that looks questionable💚
