💙🐾 Happy Veterinary Technician Week! 🐾💙

This week, we’re celebrating our incredible Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) and the important role they play in caring for our patients and supporting our clients!

From assisting with exams and procedures to monitoring anesthesia, administering medications, running laboratory tests, and caring for hospitalized patients, our RVTs do so much behind the scenes! 🩺

They also help educate pet parents, comfort nervous patients, and provide plenty of extra cuddles along the way. 🐶🐱

Our RVTs combine specialized knowledge, technical skills, and compassion to help keep our patients healthy, safe, and comfortable. Their dedication makes a difference every single day!

🐾💚 National Pet Wellness Month: 5 Things to Check!

We are half way into National Pet Wellness Month, and now is a great time to take a quick look at your pet’s overall health. Here are 5 things worth checking:

🔎 1. When was their last wellness exam?
Regular checkups can help detect health concerns early — sometimes before you notice anything is wrong.

🦷 2. How are their teeth and gums?
Look for bad breath, tartar buildup, red or swollen gums, or changes in eating habits.

⚖️ 3. Is their weight on track?
Even small changes in weight can be worth discussing with your veterinary team.

🐜 4. Are parasite preventatives up to date?
Fleas and ticks can still be active during the fall, so don’t let your guard down just because the weather is getting cooler.

💉 5. Are their vaccines and preventive care up to date?
Check whether your pet is due for any vaccinations, screening tests, or other routine preventive care.

❤️ And remember: you know your pet best. If you’ve noticed a new lump, change in behaviour, increased thirst, scratching, changes in appetite, or anything else that seems unusual, don’t wait for their next routine visit.

🍂🐾 Fall Outdoor Adventures = Time for a Parasite Check! 🐾🍂

Cooler weather makes fall a wonderful time to explore with your pet—but parasites are still active!

Before and after those autumn walks, hikes, camping trips, or backyard adventures, take a few minutes to check your pet for:

🕷️ Ticks – Check around the ears, neck, between the toes, under the legs, and around the body for attached ticks.

🦟 Fleas – Fleas can remain active well into the fall and can be brought indoors on both pets and people.

💩 Intestinal parasites – Outdoor adventures can increase exposure to contaminated soil, water, wildlife, and other sources of parasites.

🍁 Don’t forget: A quick hands-on check after outdoor adventures can help you spot problems early. Continue appropriate parasite prevention as recommended for your pet.

If you find a tick attached to your pet, remove it promptly and contact us if you have questions about testing or follow-up.
