Every vet tech starter pack needs a few essentials… ☕ coffee, 🖊️ Sharpies, 🩺 a stethoscope, 🐾 an unreasonable amount of animal hair, and the ability to function on snacks alone. 😂

But the most important part of the starter pack? A whole lot of compassion, patience, knowledge, and a genuine love for the animals in your care. ❤️

This RVT Week, we’re celebrating the amazing vet techs who somehow manage to be nurse, anesthetist, phlebotomist, receptionist, therapist, p**p investigator, professional treat dispenser, and occasional human jungle gym — all in one shift.

We’re so lucky to have you on our team. Happy RVT Week! 🐾

🐾 Happy RVT Week! 🐾

Behind every patient we care for is an incredible team of RVTs who bring knowledge, compassion, patience and a whole lot of heart to their work every day. ❤️

Our six RVTs each have their own story, experience and journey with Talbot — from celebrating one year with us, to 18+ years of being part of the Talbot family, and everything in between.

We’re so grateful for everything you do for our patients, their families and each other. Thank you for being such an important part of what makes Talbot, Talbot! 🐾❤️

It’s National Pet Obesity Awareness Day, and who better to help us talk about healthy weight than our unofficial clinic mascot, Pumpkin Butt? 🐾

Pumpkin Butt used to weigh a whopping 9.36 kg. With patience, a dedicated weight-loss diet, and some environmental changes to encourage more activity, he’s now maintaining just under 6 kg — a huge transformation! ❤️

One of the biggest parts of his success story? Weighing out his kibble. Measuring food by weight is a much more accurate way to portion meals than relying on a measuring cup, and it can make a big difference when managing your pet’s weight.

Keeping pets at a healthy weight can help reduce their risk of health concerns like diabetes, joint disease, and other weight-related conditions — and help them live happier, healthier lives.

Pumpkin Butt may have started out as a little too much cat, but he’s now proof that small, consistent changes can add up to a big difference. 🐱

If you’re wondering whether your pet is at a healthy weight or how much they should be eating, chat with your veterinary team!
