Animal Rescue Foundation - ARF Ontario

Animal Rescue Foundation - ARF Ontario ARF Ontario is based in London Ontario, Canada. We volunteer to help find permanent loving homes for dogs. ARF is based in Ontario Canada.

We volunteer to help find permanent loving homes for dogs who are in crisis situations. We are 100% volunteer, not a registered charity, foster home based, do not have a shelter facility, and provide exceptional rehabilitation and adoption programs for all animals we welcome from the province. We also focus volunteer time and funds to assist in the coordination of accessible veterinary services fo

r general care/surgery and urgent medical needs from Indigenous Communities by request, and co-host vaccination and medical mobiles in Indigenous Communities across Ontario. ARF receives no government grants and we operate completely on donations from fellow animal lovers, monies raised through adoption fees and fundraising projects developed by our volunteers. The majority of our expenses go toward essential veterinary care, training and supplies for the animals we rescue. While all dogs require vaccinations, spay/neutering, de-worming, quality food & TLC, most of them do require more extensive veterinary procedures and consultations with trainers. ARF has an HONESTY POLICY: the full history, and all medical information, is given to the potential adopters before a decision to adopt has been made. We want families, and their new furry friends, to be happy and safe for life. Our VISION: To promote humane treatment, compassion, and respect toward all companion animals. Our GOALS: To implement accessible and affordable spay/neuter surgeries for adult companion animals and to reduce the overall number of strays needing to be rescued - To educate the public on the benefits of positive training techniques - To support Bite Prevention Campaigns, working toward reducing the number of dog bites in the community and helping to keep families and their companion animals safe.

Alfie
2 month, male
"Sweetheart Sidekick" mix

Hi! I’m Alfie, and I’m just a little guy looking for my forever home.

I’m an adorable, happy boy who loves everyone I meet. I’m very people-oriented and like to follow my humans around the house to see what they’re up to. My foster mom works from home, and I’m perfectly happy hanging out beside her desk while she works. I’m not demanding of attention though. Give me a toy to chew or a comfy spot to nap, and I’m content doing my own thing beside her.

Something I am told that makes me super unique is my ‘seal coat’. Basically depending on the light I can look either black or brown and sometimes both at the same time?? I don’t know what that makes is so rare, but my mom keeps telling me I am the most handsome little guy so I guess that is ok.

I’m crate trained and already sleep through the night like a champ! I’m still working on my house training, but I’m learning really fast. I love to get treats and will do almost anything for those!

I get along great with other dogs and would be happy to have a canine friend. I’m also okay with dog-savvy cats, although I am a puppy and definitely think chasing them can be pretty fun, so I’ll need supervision while I learn my manners. I love kiddos – I am super smart and very gentle.

Mostly, I’m just the sweetest little guy. I love laps, snuggling right in, and being close to my people. If you’re looking for a happy, cuddly little sidekick who will keep you company and steal your heart, I might just be your Alfie.

Alfie has been vaccinated, dewormed, micro-chipped and is on parasite preventative. His adoption fee is $600 with a $200 rebate after proof of my neuter (within contracted timeframe).

Butterball
7 months, male
"Buttery Bobblehead" Mix

What happens when you take big paws, a big personality, an even bigger heart and roll it all up into one? You get ARF's Butterball of course - one BIG ol' heart-melting butterball of love!

This incredibly sweet boy has faced more than any young pup should endure after suffering devastating injuries before coming into ARF's care. He refused to let his story end there and proved that he wasn't giving up his battle. Butterball's tail has never stopped wagging and his spirit and determination never faded despite all he endured. The hardest days are behind him and he is recovered, healthy and ready for the next chapter of his journey - finding his perfect furever family!

Butterball isn't just a ball of love - he's a social butterfly as well! This charming boy melts the hearts of everyone he meets and truly believes there's no such thing as a stranger, only a friend he hasn't met yet! Butterball adores all two and four legged friends including dogs, cats and children! He's looking for an active and social family who will include him in all aspects of their life and not leave him behind. Butterball is always ready to jump in the car to help run errands, explore the outdoors, visit friends and family and of course head out for a hike or a day at the beach! His easy going personality make him a champion co-pilot and adventure buddy!

Butterball's big personality also comes with big paws! He's still a pup at heart in a big boy body so continued training will help him be his best self when fully grown. Butterball is very food motivated so training is a joy! He walks well on a leash and adapts to new environments easily. Butterball is learning that "meet and greets" can't happen with everyone he encounters and liver treats are very rewarding when staying focused. As for house rules, Butterball has them down pat and is fully house and crated trained! He loves toys of all kinds but anything with stuffing is fair game and has a limited life expectancy!

Butterball is neutered, fully vaccinated, micro-chipped, and on parasite prevention. He is currently recovering from hip surgery (FHO) and doing fantastic! Butterball attends hydro therapy once a week in the London area as part of his rehab and his remaining sessions will be included with his adoption. If you are an active, outdoorsy family who is looking for a social, heart melting ball of love to include in all aspects of your life, then this buttery bobblehead can't wait to meet you! Update: Adoption In Progress
Pheobe
1.5 year, female
"Little Snugglebug" Mix

Say hello to little Phoebe! Phoebe is looking for a cat-free foster home, or an adopter on a “foster-to-adopt” basis until she is spayed at EVAH London.

As you may be able to tell from her photos, Phoebe is an adorable albino French Bulldog – with a heart as big as her personality. This sweet girl may be mostly blind, but she doesn’t let that slow her down one bit! Phoebe lives by the phrase “play hard, love harder”. Once she learns her surroundings, she’s full of confidence, curiosity, and endless playfulness.

Phoebe loves being close to her people and is happiest curled up on your lap or snuggled beside you on the couch. She might not be able to see you clearly, but she’ll still know if you’re not hanging out with her and will happily trot along to follow you to another room.

She has a playful spirit and would do well in a home with another friendly, playful dog who can match her energy. However, cats aren’t her cup of tea—her enthusiasm is a little overwhelming for feline friends, and the cats in her foster home prefer to keep their distance.

Phoebe came into foster care pee-pad trained and is currently working on transitioning to outdoor house training. She’s already making great progress, and will happily chill outside with her foster mom. Phoebe is a pro on a leash, and loves to go on little walks around the neighbourhood!

Due to her breed and vision issues, she’s looking for a family with breed experience or someone willing to learn about her unique needs. Her adopter should be committed to providing a safe, predictable environment and understanding the care that comes with her vision impairment and breed-specific considerations.

Phoebe may see the world a little differently, but she doesn’t let that hold her back!

Amanda’s death has rocked the animal welfare community in Manitoba and across all provinces who endeavour to increase access to veterinary care & humane population control options across Canada. No further CONFIRMED investigation details have been released at the time of this post & our ARFies simply want to send a ripple effect of love and support out into the social media universe by sharing this post. May we all take a moment to acknowledge the immense personal sacrifices volunteers & rescue / vet staff make each and every time we choose “if not me, then who?”.
Sending light & understanding to this rescuer’s friends & family, fellow animal welfare volunteers, and the community members who will be coping with the trauma of grief and violence a death such as this unleashes.

Update: ADOPTED!
Tattoo
3.5 month, male
‘Next Little Adventure’ Mix

Hello there! My name is Tattoo, and I am looking for my absolute best buddy (or buddies!) to join me on a lifetime of fun adventures. I am a very social, happy guy, but I’m also wonderfully calm and placid most of the time.

I absolutely love humans, other dogs, and cats! I currently live with two humans, three dog siblings (including my brother), and one cat. When I’m not hanging out with my pack or sniffing out my next little adventure, you can find me chewing. I am a big fan of toys, sticks, balls, and chewies—if I can chew it, I love it!

I’m also doing amazing with my training. My humans say I am an absolute rockstar at potty training (99% of the time there!), and I sleep beautifully through the night. I’m not the biggest fan of my crate just yet, but if I fall asleep first, my humans can gently tuck me in. My leash training is also coming along great! I got a slightly late start due to some puppy skin irritation, but now that it’s completely cleared up, I’m practicing my walks like a champ.

I would fit wonderfully into almost any home, as long as you’re ready for some fun adventures and have plenty of love to share. I can’t wait to find my forever buddy!

Tattoo’s adoption fee is $600 with an opportunity for a $200 reimbursement when he is neutered (conditions apply). If you think Tattoo could be your family’s missing link, click https://www.arfontario.com/project/tattoo/ and apply to meet him!

Inky
3.5 month, male
“Curious, Cuddly Mix”

Hello there! My name is Inky, and I’ve been told that the absolute best thing about me is that I am the sweetest boy you will ever meet. It’s definitely true, especially because my absolute favorite thing in the whole wide world is cuddling. If you have a warm lap or a cozy spot next to you on the couch, I will happily curl up and keep you company for hours!

I’m a pretty curious little puppy, but I can be a bit cautious and tentative at times. Big, busy crowds can be a little scary for me, and I get a bit shy. But don’t worry, once I get a quiet moment to take everything in, I get past my shyness really quickly. I do best with gentle, one-on-one introductions where I can realize at my own pace that you’re a friend. Once we click, we are best friends forever! I am an equal-opportunity lover and get along wonderfully with other dogs, cats, and humans. In my foster home, I live with two adults, three dog siblings, and a cat, and we all have a blast together. I love playing with my puppy friends, but when playtime is over, I’m right back to looking for a snuggle buddy.

When I’m not cuddling, I have a few other favorite things. I am a professional chewer and absolutely love to sink my teeth into toys, balls, sticks, and doggy chewies—honestly, if it exists, I want to chew it! I also think car rides are the greatest adventure, and I make the most fantastic, well-behaved co-pilot.

I’m also working hard on my puppy routines. I am a super sleeper and usually snooze right through the night, though I occasionally wake up to let you know I need a quick potty break before heading right back to dreamland. My leash training is coming along really well, too! It was a bit delayed because I had some skin irritation that made it uncomfortable to wear a collar or a harness, but that is completely cleared up now. I’m finally wearing my gear and learning how to walk like a proud, handsome boy.

My dream home would be a relatively calm place where I don’t have to face giant, noisy crowds too often. Having another friendly dog or cat to play with would be amazing, but most of all, I just need a human who has plenty of room in their heart and on their couch for a sweet, gentle cuddle-bug like me. I can’t wait to meet you!

Inky’s adoption fee is $600 with an opportunity for a $200 reimbursement when he is neutered (conditions apply). If you think Inky could be your family’s missing link, click https://www.arfontario.com/project/inky/ and apply to meet him!
