✨ RVT spotlight! Katie and Shania are amazing RVTs and friends. They both make us laugh every day and they love animals deeply. We are so happy to get to work with them! ❤

We have asked them both what they love most about being an RVT:

“I love helping people take the best care of their pets, and have a special passion for feline medicine. Cats are so unique in their personalities and needs, and I love helping them feel safe, comfortable, and cared for." - Katie

“Improving senior patient’s quality of life will forever be one of my favourite parts of this job! There is also nothing more rewarding than helping a patient feel better and return home to their family.” - Shania

Please help us in thanking Katie and Shania in the comments below! 👇

✨ October is RVT month! We depend on our RVT team for so much and can't thank them enough for what they do.

RVT stands for Registered Veterinary Technician. Our RVTs work incredibly hard doing client education, inducing and monitoring anesthetic, collecting lab samples, doing microscopic cytology, and giving pets love and comfort in their hardest moments. 🐾

We have an amazing RVT team - Hannah, Mandy, Danika, Christina, Shania, Katie, Lauren, Kaitlyn, Heather, Dani, Judith and of course our manager, Miranda!

We will share more about our RVTs this month😊. Please join us in thanking them in the comments below! 👇

Here are 6 signs that your pet may be in pain! They are VERY good at hiding pain, so it is always important to keep a close eye on small changes, especially as they age. 🐾

1. Hiding or withdrawing
A pet who suddenly spends more time alone or hides may be trying to cope with their pain on their own.

2. Limping or stiffness
Difficulty getting up, climbing stairs, jumping (kitties who used to jump on the counters are no longer doing so 🐱), or walking normally can be a sign of pain—even if your pet seems otherwise happy.

3. Changes in appetite
Eating less, refusing food, or suddenly being reluctant to eat can sometimes indicate that your pet is experiencing discomfort.

4. Changes in grooming
Cats in particular may stop grooming themselves when they're uncomfortable. You may notice a dull, unkempt coat—or sometimes excessive grooming of one particular area.

5. Unusual aggression or irritability
A normally friendly pet may become more sensitive, restless, or irritable when they're experiencing pain. 🐶

6. Excessive licking of an area
Pets may repeatedly lick, chew, or groom an area that is painful or irritated. Pay attention to any spot they seem unusually focused on.

You know your pet's normal behaviour better than anyone. If you notice a sudden or unexplained change, don't ignore it!❤

Give us a call at 519-471-1560 if you feel your pet may be in pain.

✨ Say hello to sweet little Kingston and his emotional support teddy bear! Kingston came to spend the day at Oak West for an oral procedure, and his amazing owners brought his teddy in to keep him comfortable. Teddy even got a bandage in solidarity! ❤

✨ We love to make your pets visits with us as stress free as possible! These are a few of the things we do to reduce their stress levels in clinic. Can you tell we use a lot of treats?

Shout out to Dr. Li, who used a good part of her lunch to make this video! We appreciate you. And thank you to Nicole, Vivian and Ivy the puppy for their special appearances 🥰
