☀️🏆 50th Anniversary Celebration – Sunsational Summer Circuit 🏆☀️

✨ Forward motion, a willing attitude and a horse that makes every stride count — Sarah Ashby and JUICED UP COCKTAIL brought the working-horse look to the rail! 🤠🐴

Sarah & JUICED UP COCKTAIL, owned by Jessie Cofell, earned the title of WORKING WESTERN RAIL CIRCUIT CHAMPIONS! 🏆🌟

🎉 CONGRATULATIONS, SARAH, JESSIE & JUICED UP COCKTAIL! 🎉

🌵 WORKING WESTERN RAIL FUN FACT: IT’S NOT JUST WESTERN PLEASURE! 🌵

Ever wondered what makes Working Western Rail different from a traditional Western Pleasure class? While both showcase horses being ridden on the rail, Working Western Rail highlights the qualities of a versatile, ranch-style working horse! 🐎

Here’s what the judges are looking for:

🤠 Forward and ground-covering movement! The horse should move freely and naturally, with a consistent rhythm and a stride that looks suited to covering long distances out on the ranch.

🐴 More than one speed! Horses are asked to demonstrate the walk, trot and lope in both directions, along with extended trot and extended lope for at least one direction. These extended gaits show the horse’s ability to lengthen its stride while remaining balanced and controlled.

✨ Softness and responsiveness! Judges look for a horse that is relaxed, willing and responsive to its rider, with smooth transitions and a natural head carriage. The horse should travel on a relatively loose rein with light contact rather than being held in place.

🔄 Manners matter! Horses must reverse direction and back easily, demonstrating the quiet, dependable attitude expected of a good working partner.

The goal isn’t simply to move slowly or look pretty on the rail. It’s to showcase a horse that is comfortable, athletic, responsive and a pleasure to ride — one that can move out when asked and remain soft and controlled throughout! 🌵🏆

Sarah and JUICED UP COCKTAIL put those qualities on display, earning their place at the top of the Working Western Rail class! 💥

🌵 RANCH RIDING FUN FACT: 🌵
Ranch Riding is designed to showcase a horse that looks and moves like a dependable partner out on the ranch — and the tack reflects that practical, working-horse tradition! 🤠🐎

Here are a few things to know about tack in AQHA Ranch Riding:
🤎 Western working tack is the way to go! Competitors ride in a Western saddle with an appropriate bridle. Practical, functional equipment is encouraged over flashy show tack.
🐴 Bits and reins matter! The permitted bit and rein setup depends on the horse’s age and the equipment rules. Ranch Riding allows certain options, including snaffle-bit or hackamore setups where permitted, and two-rein equipment under specific rules.
✨ Silver isn’t what wins the class! Decorative silver on saddles and bridles is discouraged, and it does not count more than a good working outfit. The focus is on the horse’s movement, manners, responsiveness and ability to perform the pattern.
The key takeaway? Ranch Riding tack should look practical and suitable for a working horse. The goal is to highlight a willing, versatile partner who can move forward freely, respond smoothly and make the job look easy! 🌵🏆
