Loved my morning with Benson. It was great to get him off property to work on some socialization, leash manners, and confidence boosting at Canadian Tire. Benson is currently up for adoption through Paws United in London Ontario.

Zepplin And Willow came to me to work on their reactivity and aggression. They were barking at every single thing. If company came over, they were barking, charging lunging and biting and attacking feet. They got to the point where the owners didn’t even want to have company over or they were dreading when they did have to have company over. I cannot wait to share with you their progress!

Hi! I’m Amanda, the Trainer at Loving Leader Dog Training.

Here are some things you might not know about me.

Camping is my preferred vacation. I’ve been camping with my dogs for six years. For the first few years when people would ask who I was camping with the answer was always Whistler. A couple years later it was Whistler and Major. And then last year for the first time I took the whole crew. Algonquin is our favorite place to go!

Meet Winter!

Winter is a beautiful 4-year-old Samoyed who is ready to start the next chapter of her life. After spending her early years being used for breeding, she is finally getting the chance to simply be a beloved family dog, and she has embraced it wholeheartedly.

Since coming into foster care, Winter has adjusted incredibly well to living in a home. She is house-trained, crate-trained, but does well outside of the crate as well. Winter is incredibly sweet, and loves being around her people. She is affectionate, gentle, and has blossomed into a happy, playful girl. She has also made wonderful progress with other dogs and now enjoys running, playing, and sharing her space with canine companions.

Like all Samoyeds, Winter will thrive with a family that understands the breed’s needs. Samoyeds are intelligent, active dogs that require regular physical exercise and plenty of mental enrichment to stay happy. They are known for being social, people-oriented dogs, but they can also have an independent streak. Ongoing basic training, consistency, and positive guidance will help Winter continue to build confidence and become the amazing companion we know she can be. Samoyed’s do require a lot of brushing and grooming to maintain their beautiful coat!

Winter has already come so far, and now she’s looking for a family who will give her the love, patience, and commitment she has always deserved. In return, you’ll gain a loyal, affectionate companion with a heart as beautiful as her snowy white coat.

Winter has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm tested, and additionally, Winter has been on monthly preventatives. Her adoption fee is $750.00, which includes her health records!

Things that I would like to (and sometimes do) say it to my clients.

Nothing bad has happened… Yet!
This one I will say. Just because you have been able to do dangerous things and nothing bad has happened, that does not mean nothing bad could or will happen. In Training, we need to look at management, precautions, and safety protocols.

I knew this would happen.
This one sucks. As a dog trainer I’m in a position where I hear the worst of the worst, I see the worst of the worst. Sometimes it’s easy to go to worst case scenario of what could happen. I am always telling my clients if nothing changes things will escalate. If you don’t work on this, it will get worse. Sometimes they believe me, sometimes they don’t. The classic, “My dog would NEVER”.

I can tell you haven’t practiced.
Sometimes this is OK. Be honest with me. Life gets busy. The week slips away. If you haven’t worked on one thing, then we can work on that more in the lessons or I can give you that homework and we can work on something else. I just need honesty to know what is working and if it’s not working, why.

Why are you paying me and not taking my advice?
I want my clients to be successful. I want you to enjoy a training your dog. If you don’t understand something - ask. If you don’t agree - tell me. If you don’t have time - tell me that too, we can give you more time between lessons to practice or find a way to fit this into your everyday routine.
