We’re reaching out to our community because we desperately need your help.

Border Paws is currently facing an incredibly difficult financial situation. Our funding is depleting while the costs of caring for the animals who need us continue to rise. We have seen our community come together time and time again, and we are hoping that once again, our community will rally behind us and help support this desperately needed facility.

We serve a large area and help hundreds of animals every year. So far, 855 animals have found the homes they desperately needed since January of 2024, and every animal that comes into our care is spayed or neutered, helping prevent the cycle of unwanted litters and reduce the already overwhelming number of homeless animals in our area.

We are one of the only facilities in the area where lost animals can come to be safe, fed, and cared for while we work to find their families. In 2025 alone, we helped reunite 128 lost animals with their owners.

The need is only growing. If 855 animals were left unaltered went on to have multiple litters every year, the number of homeless animals could quickly grow into 10,000 or more. Spaying, neutering and providing a safe place for animals in crisis isn't just helping animals today, it's preventing an even greater crisis tomorrow.

If you have ever lost a pet and needed a safe place to turn, adopted an animal who needed a second chance, or found a lost animal and brought them to us, we are asking you to please consider giving back.

A one-time donation, monthly donation, or yearly donation can make an enormous difference. Every dollar helps us continue providing food, shelter, veterinary care, spay/neuter services, and the basic care these animals desperately need.

We understand that there are many organizations and causes asking for help right now. But we hope our community can see just how important Border Paws is not only for the animals in our care, but for the people and communities who rely on us when an animal has nowhere else to go.

Here’s what we’re hoping for:
If just 200 people or businesses donated $100, we would raise $20,000.
That $20,000 could help provide essential care for 20 more animals who are waiting for medical treatment, safety, and the opportunity to find the families they deserve.

We don't want to turn away animals who have nowhere else to go, but without the financial support for us, the building and the medical costs, helping becomes difficult.

Please help us keep Border Paws here for the animals who need us most.
If you can donate, please do. If you, please share. Every donation, every share, and every person who helps spread the word brings us one step closer to staying afloat.

Etransfers can me made to [email protected]
Please include contact information with your etransfer for a tax receipt to be sent to you.

From all of us at Border Paws, and from the hundreds of animals who have needed us and still do, thank you.

Adoptable Harry (orange) and adoptable Muffin man are looking for there furever homes!

Harry came in as a very scared, nervous kitty, but after some time to adjust and with the support of a few feline friends, he realized people aren’t so scary after all. Muffin Man had a similar start at the shelter, though he opened up much faster and was only a few days being shy. Once he opened up there is no denying that he all about the attention!

We need your help!

We are looking to revamp our current volunteer setup! Whether you are a current volunteer or someone who is interested in becoming a new volunteer, we hope you will consider filling out our volunteer form on our website.

We absolutely love the volunteers we have, but we are hoping there are a few more people out there willing to help on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Consistent volunteers can make a huge difference, especially when it comes to helping some of our more timid dogs build trust and confidence.

Some of our dogs have had a rough start to life and take a little longer to trust new faces. Because of this, consistency and patience go a long way! The more people they meet and become comfortable with, the easier it becomes for them to feel safe and confident around new people.

We are also opening up morning volunteer opportunities! We are looking for help with cleaning kennels, doing dishes, keeping the shelter clean, dog walking, and providing enrichment for our dogs.

If you plan to volunteer in the mornings, please give us notice ahead of time, as we keep the front door locked when someone is not available to be at the desk.

Whether you can commit to volunteering every week, every other week, or just helping when you can, your time makes a difference! We appreciate every person who walks through our doors ready to help our animals.

Handsome dogs coming through!!

Meet Digger!
This fun-loving, energetic boy is always ready for his next adventure! Digger is a working dog at heart and would thrive on an acreage where he can have a job to do. He’d make a wonderful cattle dog, but after a long day, he’s also a total snuggle bug who loves his people.

He’s wonderful with kids, does well with most dogs, and is eager to learn! He’s still working on his leash manners and can be shy with new people, but patience helps him come out of his shell.

Digger needs a home without horses due to his strong herding instinct, and he’ll need a family who can help him feel safe during thunderstorms.

And that fluffy pup beside him?
That’s Subwoofer!

He’s a sweet, gentle boy who’s still building confidence. He LOVES other dogs and would benefit from a canine companion. He’s also learning that leashes aren’t so scary and is making progress every day!

Two sweet boys, both waiting for their forever families!

Thankful Thursday!

This week, we’re showcasing so many wonderful donations that have made their way to us, and we couldn’t be more grateful!

We also want to apologize for being a little behind on our Thankful Thursday posts from last month. It was an incredibly busy month for us, and unfortunately, we didn’t get the chance to properly highlight all the amazing generosity we received. But being a little late certainly doesn’t make these donations any less special, meaningful, or helpful.

Every donation, big or small, makes a difference in the lives of the animals in our care. We are truly so thankful for each and every person who thinks of us, supports us, donates, shares our posts, or simply cheers us on.

Our community continues to amaze us with the kindness and support you show us day after day. We—and all of the animals—are incredibly lucky to have such wonderful people in our corner.

Thank you for helping us help them.
We couldn’t do it without you!
