I just received the most beautiful video from one of our puppy families, a slideshow of pictures of a little girl I raised and the wonderful life she is living. It honestly made my day.

On this Thanksgiving, I just want to say thank you to all of you who have welcomed one of my babies into your homes (or two, three, or even four!).

I feel so honoured to have played a small part in your families’ lives. These puppies are such a big part of our lives from the moment they’re born until the day they leave, and I can’t tell you how much it means to see them so loved and happy.

I know I say it all the time, but I truly believe my puppies go to the very best homes. The pictures, videos, and updates you send me mean so much. I love watching them grow up, hearing about their adventures, and seeing how much they become part of your families.

Thank you for loving my babies, for giving them such wonderful homes, and for keeping in touch even long after they’ve left us.

Happy Thanksgiving to our whole Windy Acres family! I’m so thankful for all of you! ❤️

Meet Baby. ❤️

Baby has a heartbreaking story.

Last Sunday, her mama passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind her little girl who wasn’t even two weeks old.

Although her mama wasn’t part of our breeding program, I’ve taken on the responsibility of hand-raising Baby.

It’s been a week of very little sleep, bottle feedings every few hours, and a whole lot of cuddles.

Baby spends about 23 hours a day snuggled up on my chest. My body heat helps her stay warm, and she’s happiest when she’s curled up against me.

Between feeding her, burping her, helping her go potty, and keeping her warm, she’s become my full-time, 24-hour-a-day job. I’ve become her mama.

Her mama was loved beyond measure, and this little girl has already found a very special place in my heart.

Baby isn’t looking for a home. I just wanted to share her story, and I’ll hopefully be sharing lots of little updates as she grows.

We are proud to announce that, as of today, all of our breeding dogs have completed the health testing recommended by the Dachshund parent breed club, including OFA patella and cardiac evaluations, as well as an ACVO CAER eye examination. We also complete genetic health testing through Embark to screen for inherited conditions relevant to the breed.

These evaluations help us make informed breeding decisions with the goal of producing healthy, structurally sound puppies and supporting the long-term health and future of the Dachshund breed.

We are having so much fun watching these sweet puppies grow. They keep us smiling every single day.

6 weeks old and full of personality. They’re eating well, playing hard, and getting lots of cuddles every day. We can’t believe how much they’ve grown already.
