Did you know that RVTs are laboratory technicians! They draw samples, run bloodwork and urinalysis. They examine skin and ear cytologies, look at skin scrapes etc. They run maintenance on the diagnostic equipment. We couldn’t do it without them!

Meet Mandy! Mandy is one of our awesome RVTs at KAH! She can draw blood from any size patient (and even used to work at a human lab so she knows how to perform a venipuncture on a person too!)

Did you know that RVTs are anesthesiologists as well?! As part of your pet’s anesthesia and surgical team RVTs prepare patients and equipment, place IV catheters, calculate and prepare drugs and medications, prep the surgical site, and carefully monitor their anesthesia throughout procedures!

Meet Abbi! - she loves monitoring sedation and anesthesia cases! She is dedicated to continually updating her skills, always learning and is a wonderful patient advocate 💜

Happy Vet Tech Week!

Did you know that registered vet techs are skilled at venipuncture - they draw blood from all sizes and shapes of dogs and cats! They employ lots of fear free techniques to help make this process as stress free as possible for our furry friends 🩷
They are also pharmacy technicians - helping get prescriptions ready many times a day!

Meet Fanni, one of our amazing RVTs at Kawartha Animal Hospital. She is always smiling and kind, a hard worker, and an advocate for the comfort of her furry patients 💜

Happy Vet Tech Week!

Did you know that RVTs take dental radiographs, chart dental disease and perform scaling and polishing for our dentistry patients. They are also a wealth of knowledge about home dental care options They are an integral part of our patients dental care health!

And RVT Mackenzie is a great example of this! She is a whiz at dental radiographs but also an all around fantastic technician!

Happy first day of vet tech week! Vet techs are so incredible with a wide variety of skills and job descriptions.

And what a wonderful day to welcome our amazing RVT Angel back from her maternity leave! We missed her this past year! Welcome her back this week 💜

A good day then to also showcase Victoria who is currently on her maternity leave with adorable baby Scarlett! We will eagerly await her return as well 🩷
