Morris Veterinary Hospital is pleased to announce a transition in ownership effective January 5, 2026. Founded in 2003 by Dr. Claude Morris, the practice has served as a respected veterinary hospital for over twenty-two years. The hospital has now been acquired by Dr. Matt Bates, ensuring it remains family-owned and operated, with the same personal and compassionate care clients are accustomed to.

Dr. Bates has been part of the Morris Veterinary Hospital team since graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2020. “I am proud to continue the legacy that Morris Veterinary Hospital is known for,” said Dr. Bates. “This transition represents continuity, not change. Clients can expect the same team, the same approach, and the same commitment to patient care that Morris Veterinary Hospital has always delivered.”

“I will continue to remain an active part of the practice,” said Dr. Morris. “The community is fortunate that the practice is being passed to a private owner who was raised and lives locally. Dr. Bates understands the community, our clients, and the patients we serve. I am confident he will continue to maintain and improve the practice, and I look forward to remaining part of the team.”

Dr. Morris and Dr. Bates extend sincere thanks to their clients and the community for their continued trust and support, and they look forward to many more years of dedicated service.

We will be CLOSED the last week of August from Saturday the 23rd reopening Tuesday September 2nd. Please ensure you have all your pet prescriptions and medications filled well before we leave as we may need a few days for delivery of items we do not regularly stock.

Have a great summer !!!

According to Hydro One, we should be able to reopen Wednesday morning. Please bear with us, as that morning we will have a large number of incoming calls as well as outgoing calls to reschedule appointments. Extra staff is coming to help with the phones.

Thank you everyone for your patience. For those of you needing medications, surrounding clinics may be able to provide you with emergency supplies until we are running again.

It stresses us that we are still closed and are extremely limited in our ability to help our clients and patients. With no progress on repairs to the utilities beside the hospital late this afternoon, we will likely will be closed for the remainder of this week. Crews are concentrating on restoring residential power to those dependent on electricity for medical equipment, health and welfare. Even remotely, we have no access to telephones, medical records or appointment schedules. We will be in contact with all who have appointments as soon as we are operational again.

We apologize for the inconvenience but we will be closed Monday, and perhaps for several days. There has been major damage to the electrical supply to our hospital and power lines are on the ground. For safety, please avoid the area until further notice and obey police cordon tape. Unfortunately staff also does not have access to the facility and our servers are without power so we cannot contact you. Fortunately our security system runs on batteries so we still remain secure. We will be in touch at the first opportunity.

Let's put some rumours to rest

WE ARE NOT ALL SICK WITH COVID -19

One part time staff member tested positive after their shift, so we are shutting down as a precaution to PROTECT THE PUBLIC as well as ourselves.

At the time of this posting NO OTHER STAFF MEMBERS ARE SHOWING SYMPTOMS, we are testing in a timely fashion, and we plan to be back Monday morning. Risk to the public has been and continues to be minimal since we have been doing (and will continue to do) outdoor curbside service while wearing masks, and the person who tested positive did not interact with any clients.
