I have learned recently that a local independent dog walker is telling people they are mentoring under me. I need to be very clear that this is completely false.

As of right now, I will not name names. However, I will also state very clearly that I have not spent time training him, nor do I take any responsibility for his dog handling style or ways of interacting with clients.

If anyone has any questions, absolutely message me privately. I do believe this person has me blocked after I expressed my anger over this as well as other unprofessional behaviour, so I am unable to see any of their posts.

If anyone sees anything questionable, please let me know. I am extremely particular in my dog handling and care and am not interested in any way, in being associated with someone who is not up to my standards in training and husbandry.

Marvin has been with me as a foster for 6 months now, and I've been working with him for a couple of years. He is an absolute gem of a hound, although he is also DEFINITELY a hound.

I've never known a middle-aged dog that wasn't a well trained border. Collie is so eager to learn and discover. He's bold and optimistic, but it gets overshadowed by some anxieties. Although he is anxious, he is STOKED to try new things and ready and willing to work through anything so long, and he has access to love and kibble.

I would LOVE to see him go to someone who was adventurous or into solo dog spots (he wants to do freestyle dance, fyi). He'd be a great hiking companion, and you definitely wouldn't need a bear bell.

This little dude came to me at the beginning stages of working actively as a trainer and has helped me learn a lot. I'm so very proud of how he has blossomed from all of the work we've done.

He loves a good kitty and earms up to most small dogs, so long as they are the type to disengage from his nonsense. He can be quite ridiculous with larger dogs, but has made a few friends who tower over him.

I will offer virtual support to anyone who adopts him for the rest of his sweet little life. He is the biggest little beaut, but also, his capacity for really big feelings and really big expressions of those feelings is real - I mean, he's a beagle, after all. This guy thrives when he is mentally challenged and then snugged up in a burrow with his people.

Izzy spent today with us for a day of Prairie Dog Academy in preparation for her next stay. She can be a bit angsty and her family and I wanted to help her feel at home before she was abandoned by them for a week at my house - which is much more strict than home.

Little baby is growing up, she has been coming to stay on occasion for the whole 3 years I've been back in business. She was so much fun to work with, I wish I could harness the border heeler enthusiasm for life.

And this is why I harp on you to not chatter and repeat cues to your dog.

also, in case you have forgotten - get your hand out of your treat pouch ;)

If a dog has heard the word “sit” many times in daily chatter without it meaning anything, it can take longer for “sit” to become a reliable cue during training. Introducing cues thoughtfully helps avoid this delay in learning.
