October is RVT Month! A HUGE THANK YOU to our amazing RVT team and for all the hats you wear each day! 🐾♥

Being an RVT is so much more than just cuddling puppies and kitties (although that’s definitely a perk!). Our RVTs:
• Provide education on hundreds of topics
• Perform and monitor anesthetics
• Obtain samples and perform laboratory testing
• Obtain quality radiographs, even oral ones!
• Provide emotional support to clients and patients
• Help navigate financial conversations
• Advocate for our patients
• And SO much more!

While October is a time to celebrate our RVTs, we also want to recognize and show our appreciation for our entire team. Our RVTs, VMAs, and VMRs all play an incredibly important role in keeping WestVets running. When we say WestVets wouldn’t exist without them, we mean it. They work tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure our patients receive the care they need and that all the little details are taken care of.

We are incredibly proud of our team and so thankful for everything they do!

This little cutie came in with some extra 'friends', ear mites! 👂🦠

Ear mites are tiny parasites that can cause lots of scratching, head shaking, and dark, crumbly debris in the ears. They’re also contagious to other cats, so if one cat in the home has them, the other cats should be checked too!

Luckily, they’re treatable, but these 'friends' definitely need to go!

When you’re this cute, you can chew whatever you want… right? 👀

Not quite! This little pup is learning that shoelaces are for shoes, not snacks. Puppies explore the world with their mouths, so puppy-proofing your home (and keeping tempting things out of reach) is an important part of keeping those curious little explorers safe.

A few puppy-proofing tips:
🦴 Keep shoelaces, string, ribbon, and small objects out of reach
🧸 Offer appropriate puppy-safe toys and chews instead
👀 Supervise puppies when they’re playing or chewing
🚨 If you see your puppy swallow something they shouldn’t, contact your veterinarian!
