Introductions are in order.
Addy, this is everyone, everyone this is Addy.

Addy is a very special horse, absolutely amazing actually. When you look in the dictionary under the term, one in 1 million there he is that’s his picture as Addy is definitely one in 1 million. 
You see Addy has been a school horse most of his life, also a therapeutic horse. He has taught countless people how to ride, including children and seniors. He is calm, gentle, kind and loves his people. Addy is now 22 years old and ready for retirement soon.
Addy lives with four friends in a very large pen and has access to a 2 acre seasonal grazing field. He is sound but has a difficult time flexing, bending his knees. He can only lift his hoofs, about 6 inches off the ground. This is very problematic when it comes to shoeing him  in the traditional Farrier position.
We have created a system using a 1” x 8’ nylon lifting strap with loops in both ends. Put one loop through the other and one end over his fetlock, my helper Jessy can lift the hoof while I kneel down and trim and nail shoes on. Addy has four shoes on at this time.
Addy will be retiring from the school horse program and moving with us to the new property. He will have a 10 acre grazing field, all the hay and grain he can eat, healthcare and hoof care. At that time, we will probably pull his hind shoes and leave his front shoes on as he may like to go on trail rides. And he will still have his friends with him ❤️🐴
