Hey everyone, I’d love to introduce you to our newest hiker…Wally.

Wally, such a sweet and gentle soul. He’s busy building new friendships since his recent move to the Island and he’s quickly become a well loved member of the group.

Thank you to Wally’s family for choosing Island Paws to care for their boy, we ALL love him very much ❤️

If you pick up a stick and hold it high in the air for all to see…
…you’d better be prepared for the riot that ensues 😂.

And the winner…Hudson the Golden Retriever!

How would YOU tell these little lovelies that you’ve forgotten the treats in the car 8 minutes into the hike?! 🤦🏻‍♀️ This was our experience today.

Now to make matters worse it’s Goose’s (front centre) FIRST hike and introduction to the group treats aren’t negotiable…they’re a MUST. The favourite training tool has been left in the car!

Keep in mind it has been two weeks since the others have been out hiking together…they are chomping at the bit.

…TWO WEEKS!!

The sweat starts to bead on my forehead. I decide there is no easy way to say it, so i just say it…

”Sorry guys, but I left the treats in the car, we’re going to have to head back”.

WHAT!?

She wants us to WHAT?!!!!

I think to myself, this is how riots begin.

Imagine the expressions on the eight faces looking up at me? I decide the least painful way to proceed is to securely chain the two groups to the gate and RUN the 25’ to the car, all the while remaining in their sight the whole time. I repeatedly tell everyone to “wait” while I grab the treats…and do you know what??

NOT. A. PEEP.

Everyone showed such restraint!!! But I’m certain they were ready to trade me in for any old chump they could con into taking them at that point!

After cheers of praise and a round of treats for a job well done, we are finally headed off for fun and adventure…for a second time.

I’m so proud…they are so proud and I’m reminded yet again how much I love these amazing little beings ❤️

Riley paused yesterday to sniff the cool air, I could just imagine what she was thinking…

“The sky is falling”

“No Riley, it’s just the wind blowing the leaves from the trees”

“Wow…look how they spin!”

“It certainly is beautiful Riley ❤️”

Well…I can tell the kids are happy I’m back from being off sick last week, they were SO full of beans the last couple of days! They were just so excited to be back…it was as if I’d been off FOREVER and a day 😂.

I love to see them in their element out there in the forest, I’m like a proud Mama to them all.

I’m going to guess they all slept well afterwards!

Thank you all for being part of our amazing Island Paws family ❤️
