How would YOU tell these little lovelies that youā€™ve forgotten the treats in the car 8 minutes into the hike?! šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø This was our experience today.

Now to make matters worse itā€™s Gooseā€™s (front centre) FIRST hike and introduction to the group treats arenā€™t negotiableā€¦theyā€™re a MUST. The favourite training tool has been left in the car!

Keep in mind it has been two weeks since the others have been out hiking togetherā€¦they are chomping at the bit.

ā€¦TWO WEEKS!!

The sweat starts to bead on my forehead. I decide there is no easy way to say it, so i just say itā€¦

ā€Sorry guys, but I left the treats in the car, weā€™re going to have to head backā€.

WHAT!?

She wants us to WHAT?!!!!

I think to myself, this is how riots begin.

Imagine the expressions on the eight faces looking up at me? I decide the least painful way to proceed is to securely chain the two groups to the gate and RUN the 25ā€™ to the car, all the while remaining in their sight the whole time. I repeatedly tell everyone to ā€œwaitā€ while I grab the treatsā€¦and do you know what??

NOT. A. PEEP.

Everyone showed such restraint!!! But Iā€™m certain they were ready to trade me in for any old chump they could con into taking them at that point!

After cheers of praise and a round of treats for a job well done, we are finally headed off for fun and adventureā€¦for a second time.

Iā€™m so proudā€¦they are so proud and Iā€™m reminded yet again how much I love these amazing little beings ā¤ļø

Wellā€¦I can tell the kids are happy Iā€™m back from being off sick last week, they were SO full of beans the last couple of days! They were just so excited to be backā€¦it was as if Iā€™d been off FOREVER and a day šŸ˜‚.

I love to see them in their element out there in the forest, Iā€™m like a proud Mama to them all.

Iā€™m going to guess they all slept well afterwards!

Welcome to Island Paws Jesse ā¤ļøā€¦

With orientation finished, this week is Jesseā€™s first official week with us and what a great week it has been so far!

We met for pick ups and drop offs Monday and Wednesday together but I stood back to let the dogs and Jesse do some more bonding and trust building. I was like a proud Mom dropping my children off for their first day of kindergarten as I watched those with Jesse drive away in his van without me. We werenā€™t apart for long before we all met at the trail and set off together for our latest adventure.

Thank you to you Jesse for being a wonderful, calm and loving leader to our amazing dogs.

They have very quickly fallen in love with youā¤ļø
