There are moments when words simply aren’t enough.

Our hearts are breaking as we watch wildfires grow and devastate communities across B.C., including the community of Summerland, which is home to our members, our team members, our friends, and our families.

We’re watching neighbours forced from their homes, families uprooted, cherished places lost and entire communities face unimaginable uncertainty. These are more than places on a map. They are home.

Starting today, Otter Co-op is committing all till donations to support those affected by the wildfires and the incredible organizations and services working tirelessly to protect our communities and fight these fires by way of the Canadian Red Cross 2026 BC Wildfires Appeal. Through the Co-op Helps program, up to $5,000 of these donations will be matched.

Every donation, every act of kindness and every helping hand matters.

To the firefighters and first responders working around the clock, to the volunteers supporting evacuees, to the families waiting for news and to everyone who has been forced to leave home, we see you, we’re thinking of you and we’re standing with you.

The Okanagan is strong. Its people are strong. And together, we’ll help each other through this.

Please stay safe.
