With Thanksgiving just around the corner, keep an eye out for your pets to ensure they don't get into anything they shouldn't! Delicious foods such as turkeys and mashed potatoes, or decorations like fake plants and candles, can all pose as hazards to your pet.

If you find your pet has gotten into something harmful, please call us at 604-888-4142 to discuss the next steps. 📞

We will be CLOSED tomorrow, in observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

We encourage you to take time to learn about and recognize the harmful impact of the residential school system and colonialism within Canada, and remember and honor those who lost their lives, as well as the survivors, families, and communities of the residential school system in Canada - of which the negative impacts and trauma are ongoing, to this day.

This day serves a reminder of the commitment to reconciliation, which can be engaged in through education, acknowledgement, and ongoing respect of the history, culture, and overall vast and diverse community of Indigenous peoples in Canada. Create and maintain culturally safe and welcoming environments, support the Indigenous organizations and businesses within your community, attend events, listen to and make space for Indigenous voices, and help educate others in the importance of the above points.

Today is recognized as National Responsible Dog Ownership Day! 🐶

Being a responsible dog owner is the most important thing you can do for your pup. This can look different for each individual dog and their family, but there are a few key things that we believe can help ensure responsible dog ownership:

- Staying on top of your pet's health and wellness with things such as seeking regular veterinary care, staying on top of vaccinations and preventatives, medical management of any new or existing conditions, providing adequate nutrition, grooming (coat, ears, nails, teeth, etc.), social bonding with your dog (such as training or just spending quality time together), and giving your dog opportunities for mental/physical exercise - as just a few examples! 🏥

- Ensuring your pet is kept safe on a day-to-day basis. Some examples of this may be things like having a pet-proofed home, ensuring yards are adequately fenced and escape-proofed, walking your dog on-leash when mandated, having identification for your pet (ID tags, tattoos, microchips, etc.), and being prepared for emergencies that may arise such as natural disasters, evacuations, or medical incidents. 🪪

Of course, the above is not an exhaustive list, but if you have any questions about how to provide responsible care to your dog, let us know, and we would be happy to chat about how we can help! 604-888-4142.
