As the weather warms, hopefully you and your pup are out enjoying the sunshine and some nice long walks together! Although sometimes, walks are not an option, or you may want to mix things up for your pet... Consider some of these other fun ways to exercise with your dog:

1. You can make a DIY agility course using things you have at home, such as a broomstick balanced on yoga blocks, or perhaps any raised platform to act as a pause table. YouTube offers many great ideas and tutorials to help you with this!

2. Tug of war is always fun for both you and your dog and will help strengthen your bond! Make sure to use a durable and flexible toy that is designed for tug of war.

3. Try offering your dog a lick mat covered in canned food, or perhaps a Kong filled with delicious dog treats, and it will surely tire them out! Try freezing the treat for an extra challenge.

4. Scent games can help our dogs learn to work and trust their noses, in a fun and rewarding way! Try placing treats in muffin tin, covering the holes with tennis balls, then let your dog work their way to the treats. Snuffle mats are also a great option.

5. Indoor exploration is a great way to mentally enrich and stimulate your dog, especially when visiting new places! Many stores (e.g. Canadian Tire, Home Depot, Winners, etc.) are known to allow dogs, but we recommend calling ahead just to be sure.

6. You can never go wrong with a good game of fetch! Make sure you're in a safe and secure spot and let your dog have a blast with a soft frisbee, a ball, or any other one of their favorite throwable toys.
