A heads up that the Campbell Downs field, the small sand ring and the section of the Shaggy Mane Trail from the ring to the top of the hill will be closed on Wednesday, Oct 14 from 2 pm to 5 pm for a Multi-zone High School Cross Country Meet with about 400 runners.
A 5 meter wide track has been mowed through the field for the race so please keep horses off of it until after the race to preserve the footing for the runners. They are all very excited to be able to run in beautiful Campbell Valley Regional Park.

The large arena will be closed all day Friday for set-up for our final competition of the year, the Dressage and 2 Phase which runs Saturday and Sunday. Saturday will be dressage in the arena and Sunday will be cross country on the field. The Mountain Trail and Round Pen will also be closed for the weekend.

Edited: Thursdays and Saturdays Langley Mustangs Track and Field Club will be holding regular cross country training runs in CV Park on Saturdays from September 5 to April 24th from 8:45 am to 11:00 am and on Thursdays from September 8th to November 3rd from 4:45 pm to 6:30 pm. In the Campbell Downs field area, they will be using the hill on the Shaggy Mane Trail and the Perimeter Trail. They will also be using the south area of the park parallel to 4th Ave.

The large riding arena is now officially open! Please be very gentle with the footing. It still needs a lot more rain and time to settle in. Keep to regular flat work, walk, trot, canter. Absolutely no speed, sudden stops, lunging, tiny circles or anything else that digs in through the sand layer. We will have to monitor it closely and if we start to see any damage, we will have to close it again and we would hate to do that.
You can also access the Mountain Trail area again now. It needs some attention but several of the obstacles are good to use.
The track is closed and is going to need a bunch of work to tame the blackberries after 2 years of freedom.

All the rings and Campbell Downs field are now closed for the weekend for our annual Campbell Valley Horse Trials. On Saturday, the Shaggy Mane Trail going up the hill along the field will be closed for the Cross Country phase of the competition. You can still ride all the way around the park by taking the bypass trail in the trees for that section.
Come and see what it is all about. Spectators are welcome and the Bread and Cheese food truck will be on hand if you get hungry.

The cross country field is now closed until after the Campbell Valley Horse Trials running Aug 7 to 9th this year. Preparations are underway for an exciting event!

The WestCoast Working Equitation team will be setting up the small ring tomorrow (Thursday). It will be harrowed in the morning and then closed for the weekend for their show. They will also be using the Campbell Downs field for their Ease of Handling Phase and plan to have the area roped off. The Shaggy Mane Trail will remain open but please keep away from the horses being judged.

We need some help repairing wood fences and jumps. Are there any people out there with basic carpentry skills that could help? Maybe someone who is retired or semi-retired? No set schedule so it can fit in with your available time. We are a non-profit society but we can pay something for your time just not the full going rate that a business would charge.
