I originally trained their first GSD 8 years ago, and now they’re back with their second.

That kind of trust means a lot. When someone comes back to you years later with their next dog, you know you must have done something right. 😉

Ignoring bad behaviour doesn’t make it disappear. 👀

Your dog jumping on the counter, stealing food, barging through doors, ignoring commands… isn’t going to magically stop because you decided to “just ignore it.”

Dogs need clear communication and clear boundaries.

Sometimes that means rewarding the behaviour you want.
Sometimes it means correcting the behaviour you don’t.

A correction is simply information: “That’s not what I want. Try this instead.”

If your dog keeps doing the same thing, ask yourself: Have I actually taught them that the behaviour is unacceptable or have I just hoped they’d figure it out?

Stop hoping. Start communicating. 🐾

We love our dogs. ❤️

Our dogs love us unconditionally, and in return, we love them more than most people could ever imagine.

And honestly? Most people don’t struggle with loving their dog.

That’s why you don’t hear us talk about it much.

What people do struggle with is saying no.

Setting boundaries.
Following through.
Telling your dog that a behaviour isn’t acceptable, even when they look at you with those eyes. 😂

Because loving your dog doesn’t mean letting them do whatever they want.

It means teaching them. Guiding them. Communicating with them.

You can love your dog like crazy and still have rules.

In fact, sometimes the best way you can love your dog is to give them the structure they need to succeed.

We’re not teaching you to love your dog less.

We’re teaching you how to love your dog more and on a whole different level. 🐾

YES. NO. BREAK.

YES = that’s what I want.
NO = that’s not what I want.
BREAK = you’re free. Go be a dog.

Your dog doesn’t need a running commentary all day. They need clear communication and consistency.

🚨 PSA: Stop trying to pet other people’s dogs! 🚨

At the very least, ALWAYS ask permission before approaching someone else’s dog.

Why?

Because you don’t know that dog’s history, temperament, or training goals.

Maybe the dog is fearful of strangers.
Maybe the dog is reactive.
Maybe the dog is overly friendly and the owner is working hard to stop them from running up and jumping on everyone they see.
Maybe the dog is in training.
Maybe the dog bites.

There are countless reasons why an owner may not want people—or other dogs—approaching their dog. Respect that.

If you ask and the owner says yes, great! Go ahead and say hello. But walking straight up and reaching for a dog puts the owner in an awkward position. Many people struggle to say no, even when they want to.

Remember: it’s their dog. Their time, effort, training, and responsibility.

And if you simply love dogs and want some canine affection, there are thousands of dogs in shelters that would love your attention. Consider volunteering instead of approaching random dogs on the street.

And to the dog owners out there: if you don’t want someone petting your dog, it’s okay to say NO. You don’t owe anyone access to your dog.

Riding sh***un, a quick stop at Hub Insurance and Hudson’s Automotive. I could not have done this with Kora a few months ago, but she’s come such a long way.

The goal for me is always being able to have my dogs with me 🐾
