Osteopathy, by definition, is a form of manual therapy that views the body as an interconnected, self-healing system. This holistic approach means the whole body is taken into consideration, with no system excluded.

When the whole body is considered, everything is connected. This includes not only the physical relationships between structures — muscles connected to tendons, tendons connected to bones, all innervated by nerves and supported by blood supply but also the many feedback relationships within the body.

These feedback relationships can include things like a gamma loop, the role of hormones in digestion, and even kidney function.

Each of these systems relies on the others for information and influence. When the body is not viewed as a whole, interconnected unit, small missed considerations can add up and alter the outcome so significantly that you may end up miles away from the real answer.
