Check out Legacy Oaks Equine outside of Morden for lessons this summer! Darcy Young-Bergmann and Wendy have a great thing going on here and you don’t want to miss out.

Great coaches, great community and fantastic facilities.

Summer 2026 Offerings at Legacy Oaks

Horse Boarding:
We are pleased to offer summer outdoor boarding, with the potential for winter boarding as well. Our barn and indoor arena are currently under development.

Our facilities include several grazing pastures, a 180x200 outdoor sand arena, trailer parking, and a small trail system, all available to our boarders. A comprehensive boarding contract outlining all details and costs is available upon request.

We are also proud to have an on-site certified coach, Wendy Barnett, who will be coaching and training out of Legacy Oaks for the 2026 season.

Legacy Oaks Lesson Program:

Equine Connection Sessions:
I, Darcy, will be offering Equine Connection sessions, which are conducted from the ground and suitable for all ages. These sessions cover basic safety, body language, grooming, horse care, and handling. Whether you are interested in spending quality time with horses or have goals of starting lessons, we can tailor these sessions to meet your needs. A minimum number of sessions are required before progressing to riding lessons.

Riding Lessons with Wendy Barnett:
Wendy Barnett has over 25 years of experience coaching and training horses. Her riding career began in Western disciplines, later expanding to jumping and dressage. Wendy has competed in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Oregon, and California, and continues to ride both Western and English, focusing on solid basics and good technique.

In lessons, Wendy emphasizes the balance between horse and rider, creating a connection and happy partnership. Her goal is to make the horse's job easier and more enjoyable by providing riders with tools to improve their seat and the horse's ability to carry its rider.

Haul-In Lessons and Personal Arena Usage:
A waiver must be signed, and a small haul-in fee applies. Riders under 18 years old are required to wear a helmet.

Training with Wendy Barnett:
Wendy has experience starting horses, bringing them up the levels, and working with difficult or sensitive horses with training issues. She enjoys helping owners in a lesson format and also takes horses in for short- or long-term training.

We provide accommodation and care for horses in training at Legacy Oaks.

I jumped on the recent horse community Chat GPT trend. I asked AI to make a photo of me and my line of work from what it knows about me.

Wha you see here is the wrong ranch name, a dog breed I’ve never owned, and something of an Aussie type cowboy hat. But, I love the fact I have a #1 Mom mug, I am running my own business in the mountains at sunrise…off a straw bale. 👌🏼

Guilty! 🙋‍♀️ I was a spectator at a rodeo with my family once when i was a young kid and my dad had entered me in to a race in the arena during the intermission. While all of the other kids ran their little hearts out to win, I brought up the tail with a steady lope. 🤪❤️.. and apparently tried with the alias “Jasmine”. Core memories.

With a cold snap and the horrendous winds that followed a gorgeous ☀️ couple of weeks, be sure not to forget that our horses feel it too.

Check vitals and ensure they’re eating and drinking regularly..plus we can all use extra snuggles through the dark winter days ❤️🐴.

❄️ Brrrrr — it's cold outside! ❄️

When there is heavy frost or snow on the ground, dehydration becomes a concern, because many horses will generally drink less when it's cold. ⛄

Hydration is important for optimal body function and a drop in this can compromise the horse's vital functions — colic being one of the most common outcomes. 😓

Five ways to increase water intake are:

💧 Make sure buckets/troughs/automatic drinkers are clean and not frozen. Check them morning and evening at the very least.

💧 Add a bit of flavour — apple juice, molasses or mint can be added to encourage the horse to drink it.

💧 Some horses simply don't like drinking very cold water and serving it lukewarm may be necessary.

💧Offer a soaked feed or add water to hard feed.

💧 Soak hay to increase its water content, but bear in mind this will affect its nutritional value. If suitable for your horse, haylage contains more water than hay and so can be fed instead to aid hydration levels. As always, though, make any dietary changes slowly.

We are so grateful for the incredible support already — thank you to everyone who has followed our page and reached out with interest in our upcoming programs!
It truly means so much to us. Below is a look at the services and pricing we’re currently planning to offer at Prairie Sage Equine.

🌾 Riding Lessons – Primarily Western Discipline

60-Minute INTRO Lesson | $60
Our INTRO lesson is a relaxed, one-on-one experience designed for students who are curious about horses and riding but aren’t quite sure if Prairie Sage — or riding itself — is the right fit just yet.
This session is also a wonderful option for parents whose kiddos are interested in lessons but may need a gentle, low-pressure introduction before committing.
• One INTRO lesson per student.

60-Minute Riding Lessons
Lesson packages start at $180 for a 3-lesson block.
• A minimum of 3 lessons is required at the time of purchase, with no maximum (3, 6, 9, etc.).
• Lessons are scheduled in consistent weekly “blocks,” similar to other sports programs — the same day and time each week for consecutive weeks (for example, Mondays at 3:00 pm).
• Lessons are individual until riders are comfortable in a group setting. If necessary, groups will include only 2 or 3 students at a time.

🌿 Equine Support Sessions

60-Minute Equine Support Session | $50
These sessions are offered with no minimum commitment required, though package options are available for those who wish to continue.

No previous horse experience is required for any of our programs. All we ask is an open mind and a willingness to learn — from there, we’ll take things at a pace that feels comfortable and supportive for each individual.

Updates, schedules, and additional details will be shared here on our page. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions — we’re always happy to chat.

Thank you again for being here,
Kelsey
