Tucker’s got a smile for you, and we’ve got a way to make a difference!

Tucker is a friendly 5-year-old English Bulldog mix who loves hanging out, chasing his ball (once or twice), and looking like he knows a pretty good secret. 😉

🎟 Here’s one we’re excited to share: the LAWS 50/50 Raffle is officially OPEN! 🪙

Every ticket gives you a chance to win half the jackpot, while the other half stays here at LAWS to support the animals in our care.

This summer, kitten season pushed us to the limits of our capacity. Our dedicated foster homes were caring for as many as 100 mother cats and kittens at a time, many needing close monitoring, specialized food, and urgent veterinary care. Your support helps us provide the treatment and essentials these vulnerable little ones need.

So let’s get this raffle underway! Buy your tickets today and help make a difference right here at the shelter.

Get your tickets online: https://lakefieldanimalwelfare.rafflenexus.com

Prefer to buy in person? Visit LAWS Tuesday through Saturday, 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.

📅 The raffle runs until Tuesday, December 1, 2026.
🕐 Ticket sales close at 1:00 pm, and the draw takes place at 2:00 pm.
📍 Ontario residents only.

Good luck from all of us at LAWS—and Tucker, of course! 🍀

A busy day for some very brave pets!

It was hopping at our Fall 2026 Rabies Vaccine and Microchip Clinic today, and what a beautiful day to welcome so many pets and people to LAWS.

With the support of Dr. Amber Morgan and Amanda, RVT, from Omemee Veterinary Hospital, we administered 81 rabies vaccines and 11 microchips to help keep local pets protected and identifiable.

Thanks to our veterinary partners and today’s team of staff and volunteers, we were pleased to offer this reduced-cost service to the responsible pet owners who could make the trip out to see us. Accessible preventative care is an important part of keeping pets healthy and helping them stay safely with their families.

And top marks to all the well-behaved cats and dogs you came through today! You all deserve a little extra praise. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the clinic a success!

A beautiful day in Lakefield, and we are so grateful for all the local support! Thanks very much to The Cheesy Fromage- Lakefield for organizing this great event, and to all the participants for showing up. From Lakefield businesses to local residents and visitors, it was a busy day downtown and we absolutely loved seeing all the costumes. 🧡

VOLUNTEER WITH LAWS 🧡

A busy shelter depends on many team members working together. Over the years, we have been fortunate to have many long-term volunteers making meaningful contributions to our daily operations, and now we’re looking to welcome a few new people to our team.

We currently have openings for cat cleaning volunteers on Wednesday and Thursday mornings between 8:00 am and 11:00 am. Volunteers generally work in pairs, helping our staff with the routines that keep the shelter clean, comfortable, and running smoothly.

There’s more to this role than tidying up. You’ll support us in monitoring the cats’ health and wellbeing, and learn about feline behaviour, nutrition, preventative care, and the journey from shelter to adoption.

Just as importantly, you’ll become part of a team. Our volunteer shifts offer opportunities to share knowledge and meet other community members who care about animal welfare.

We’re looking for people who can commit to a regular schedule, work thoughtfully alongside others, and follow our procedures and policies closely. You don’t need to know everything about cats before you start—being willing to learn and showing up as a dependable teammate are what matter.

Interested in becoming a LAWS volunteer? We’d love to hear from you! Please take a moment to fill out the Volunteer Application on our website: https://www.lakefieldanimalwelfare.org/get-involved/.

And don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions at 705-652-0588 or [email protected].

A big cat with a big heart—meet Charlie! 💛

At 8 years old, Charlie has perfected the art of being an excellent companion and morale booster. This handsome black cat loves sprawling across a comfy bed, getting brushed, and settling in for a good cuddle with his favourite people. You’ll definitely hear that purr before long.

Charlie is looking for a quieter home where he can relax and feel secure. He previously lived in a busy household where the activity around the other animals became stressful. He’s ready for a fresh start in a calmer environment where he can truly settle in.

Charlie would be happy as your one and only, but he may also be comfortable sharing a home with another quiet, compatible cat who is content to coexist rather than insist on playtime. He loves his people, and with a little peace and predictability, he’ll make a devoted buddy.

If you have a calm home, room on the bed, and plenty of love to give, Charlie could be the sweet boy you’ve been waiting for.
