🦃🍂 Happy Thanksgiving from Peak Motion K9! 🐾🧡

This Thanksgiving, we’re grateful for the dogs who join us on every adventure, fill our homes with love, and remind us why supporting their wellbeing matters so much.

As you celebrate with family and friends, here are a few ways to support your dog’s comfort, relaxation, and overall wellness throughout the holiday.

🍗 Mind their meals: Avoid rich table scraps and keep toxic foods out of reach.

🧘 Prioritize rest: Busy gatherings can be overstimulating. Give your dog time to decompress and relax.

🐾 Keep them moving comfortably: Stick to familiar activity levels and avoid overdoing it.

🛏️ Create a calm space: Provide a quiet retreat away from the holiday excitement.

💧 Watch their comfort: Keep fresh water available and pay attention to changes in posture, movement, or behaviour.

🧡 Supporting your dog’s well-being starts with the little things: comfortable movement, adequate rest, and recognizing when they need a break.

Happy Thanksgiving! I am grateful to support your companions’ comfort and wellness all year long. 🐾

🍂 Fall wellness goes beyond keeping your dog warm. It’s about supporting the body that carries them through every adventure.

Cooler temperatures, slippery surfaces and changing activity levels can all impact your dog’s mobility, muscle function and recovery.

🐾 This fall, remember to:
• Warm up gradually before intense activity
• Monitor mobility, gait and joint comfort
• Check paws and nails
• Build conditioning consistently
• Prioritize rest and recovery
• Notice and document changes in posture, movement or behaviour

Canine bodywork can be one part of a holistic wellness routine, supporting relaxation, body awareness and comfort when appropriate. It works alongside conditioning, nutrition and veterinary care never as a replacement for them. My goal is to support comfortable, functional movement.

Notice the little things. Adjust when needed. Give recovery the attention it deserves.

Save this as your seasonal reminder to care for the body behind every adventure. 🍂

International Dog Day 🐾🤎

Today is a little reminder to celebrate the dogs who make every adventure better, our hiking buddies, sport companions, couch snugglers, and four-legged best friends.

At Peak Motion K9, we know how much our dogs give us every day. So today, give a little back. ❤️ Whether that means a massage, some extra cuddles, a rest day, or simply taking a moment to appreciate the incredible bodies that carry them through all of life’s adventures.

Our dogs do so much for us. They deserve the very best care in return.

📸 Now it’s your turn, share a photo of your dog in the comments! We want to see all of your adventure buddies. 🐕⛰️

Our dogs aren’t just pets, they’re everyday athletes. 🐾

Hiking, running, playing, training, jumping, swimming and exploring all place physical demands on their bodies. & just like human athletes, they benefit from intentional recovery and body maintenance, not only when something is wrong, but as part of staying healthy and moving well.

That’s where canine body work can play an important role. 🤎

Regular body work can support mobility, range of motion, muscular comfort and overall movement quality, while also helping us become more aware of how our dogs are feeling and moving.

Recovery matters & looks like:
• Rest days between demanding activities
• Gentle movement and active recovery
• Proper nutrition and hydration
• Conditioning appropriate for their sport and lifestyle
• Regular canine body work to support healthy movement

Our goal shouldn’t simply be to keep our dogs active. It should be to help them stay comfortable, strong and capable of enjoying the activities they love for years to come.

Peak Motion K9 is a part of that bigger picture, supporting our dogs bodies so we can keep moving forward, one adventure at a time. 🐾

Keep your pets safe ☀️

It doesn't have to be 'that hot out' for your car to become deadly.

Every summer, dogs suffer heat stroke after being left in parked vehicles "for just a few minutes."

Here's the reality...

☀️ On a 22°C (72°F) day:
🚗 10 minutes → Inside the car can reach 32°C (90°F)
🚗 30 minutes → Around 40°C (104°F)
🚗 60 minutes → More than 46°C (115°F)

On even warmer days, temperatures climb much faster. But the temperature inside the car isn't the only danger.

Dogs cool themselves primarily by panting—not by sweating like we do.

As their body temperature rises:

🌡️ Around 40°C (104°F): Heat exhaustion begins. Heavy panting, drooling, weakness, and distress become obvious.

🌡️ Around 41°C (105.8°F): This becomes a life-threatening emergency. Cells begin to suffer heat injury, and organs may start to fail.

🌡️ Above 42°C (107.6°F): Permanent damage to the brain, heart, kidneys, liver, and other organs can occur. Without immediate veterinary treatment, survival becomes increasingly unlikely.

Heat stroke doesn't simply "go away" once a dog is removed from the car. Even dogs that appear to recover can develop delayed organ damage hours later.

💔 Cracking the windows isn't enough.
💔 Parking in the shade isn't enough.
💔 Running into the store "for just a minute" isn't worth the risk.

The safest place for your dog on a hot day is safely at home.

Please share this post. It could save a life.

Did you know?

Muscle tension in one area of the body can create a chain reaction throughout your dog’s entire body.
Dogs are masters of compensation. When a muscle, joint, or area of the body becomes uncomfortable, they naturally shift their weight and movement patterns to avoid discomfort. While this helps them continue their daily activities, it often means other muscles are working harder than they were designed to.

For example, if a dog has tightness through their lower back, they may begin relying more heavily on their front end to propel themselves forward. Over time, this can lead to increased tension through the shoulders, neck, and chest muscles as those areas work harder to compensate.

This is one of the reasons why bodywork looks at the dog as a whole, rather than focusing only on the area where symptoms appear. The source of discomfort and the areas showing signs of tension are not always the same.

Small changes such as shortened strides, difficulty settling comfortably, reluctance to jump, or decreased stamina can all be clues that your dog’s body is working harder than it should be.

By identifying and addressing these tension patterns early, we can help support better movement, improved comfort, and overall well being.

Have you noticed any subtle changes in how your dog moves lately? 🐾
