Senior dogs deserve wellness care that evolves with them. 🐶❤️

As dogs age, exams may include bloodwork to uncover changes that aren't visible, joint and mobility assessments to evaluate comfort, and cognitive screening for behavioural or mental changes. These extra checks can help detect age-related concerns earlier and guide care for their changing needs.

Schedule your senior dog's wellness exam today! https://stfrancisanimalclinic.ca/contact/

🍂 Fall views are better from a safe window.

Even indoor-only cats can leap, climb, or push against a screen when something outside catches their attention, and standard insect screens aren’t always strong enough to hold them.

Help keep your cat safely inside:

🐾 Use securely fitted, pet-resistant screens or window guards

🐾 Check screens regularly for tears, loose frames, and gaps

🐾 Limit how far unscreened windows can open

🐾 Take extra precautions in apartments and high-rise homes

A secure window lets your cat enjoy the view and gives you greater peace of mind. 🐈

While every cat has their own personality, a well-matched companion can provide enrichment, mental stimulation, and social interaction. Another cat in the home may encourage play, help prevent boredom, and create a more engaging environment when introduced thoughtfully. 🐾😸

Considering adding another cat to your family? Our team can help you support a smooth transition and ongoing pet wellness.

🐾 World Rabies Day is September 28th, a great reminder to celebrate how far we've come in protecting our pets and our communities.

Rabies is entirely preventable with a simple vaccine, and keeping your dog or cat up to date is one of the easiest ways to keep them safe.

Not sure when they were last vaccinated? We're happy to check! https://stfrancisanimalclinic.ca/contact/

Could your dog be losing their hearing? 🐾

Hearing loss can happen gradually, making it easy to miss the early signs. Watch for changes like:

👂 Not responding to their name

😴 Sleeping more deeply than usual

😯 Startling easily when approached

🚪 Not reacting to familiar sounds like the doorbell or squeaky toys

🐕 Looking to other pets for cues

Some hearing changes are part of aging, while others may be related to underlying medical conditions. Early evaluation can help determine the cause and the best way to support your dog. https://bit.ly/3Ij27xN
