Our dear friend Thor passed away at the age of 10, two weeks ago today.
Thor was the softest, kindest dog you could ever meet. He didn’t have a mean bone in his body. He hardly ever barked, and loved to just walk through the fields with all of his friends.
I’ve known Thor for nine years now. He first came into my life when his first owner Tammy needed a dog walker. Back then, I was just walking one or two dogs at a time, so me and Thor usually went on our walks solo. We would walk through his neighbourhood and go to the park, and Tammy called me his godmother ❤️ He came to my house for Easter the next year and helped collect sap in the woods for maple sugaring.
When Tammy ultimately had to find him a new home, I helped her get in touch with Triton’s mom and dad, and then Clooney’s mom and dad to see if he would be a good fit. He found his forever home with Clooney’s family and the rest is history.
Two Wednesday’s ago, Thor’s family noticed that he wasn’t acting himself and, after getting some ultrasounds, found out the heartbreaking news that he had internal bleeding. I am so grateful that Thor’s family invited Rebecca and I to join them in their backyard to help hold him as he crossed the rainbow bridge. He went to sleep just as the sun set, laying underneath their giant maple tree. It was such a beautiful summer night, and he didn’t feel any pain.
We miss you Thor. Run free ❤️
