This is it.
2026 is the year I say goodbye to some dreams and choose to focus on new ones.
It has been a long, heavy four years.
This small dream began in Poland, after I couldn’t find a reputable breeder in Canada without endless waiting lists. What followed was years of sacrifice—financial, emotional, and physical. Thousands of dollars spent on health testing (many don’t even know what OFA testing is), club memberships, dog shows, and proving—over and over—that my girl was healthy, sound, and worthy of becoming a mother.
Finding a stud that met Vizsla Canada standards felt nearly impossible. Disappointment after disappointment. Too often, quality is overlooked. People choose backyard breeders or mixed litters and believe they’ve hit the jackpot—while ethical breeding continues to be undervalued. A mixed breed isn’t automatically healthier; health comes from responsible breeding and testing, not random pairing.
For four years, we did everything right. The best food. Proper training. Endless care and love. But just like humans, a dog’s body can be unpredictable. Every single heat cycle brought a phantom pregnancy that took a toll on her physical and mental well-being. Even veterinarians here didn’t know how to properly manage it—I had to import medication from Europe.
Today, I’m walking away with a broken heart and deep disappointment. I’ve lost hope in the future of ethical purebred breeding programs in Canada.
To those who patiently waited for good news that never came—or for promises that were ultimately misleading—I am truly sorry.
So this is where our journey ends. I’ve exhausted my savings, my strength, and my hope. Sometimes, the bravest thing we can do is let go and move forward.
I wish everyone nothing but the best—and I hope you make thoughtful, responsible decisions when choosing your next furry family member.
With love,
