Vaccination, Deworming & Flea Tick Prevention!

Preventive care plays an important role in keeping your pet healthy and protected throughout every stage of life! 🩺
Vaccinations help guard against serious and potentially life threatening diseases, while routine deworming protects pets and families (yes, us too!) from harmful internal parasites.
Flea and tick prevention helps prevent itching, skin irritation, infestations, and the spread of diseases such as Lyme disease. 🦠
Staying up to date with regular veterinary care and year-round prevention is one of the best ways to support your pet’s overall health and wellbeing!!❤️

NOTICE****!!!

There is currently paving construction at the Mactaquac Dam, and they are only operating one lane at a time. Expect wait times to be anywhere from 5 minutes to 20 minutes to get across.

If you require travelling over the dam to get to the clinic this week, we recommend giving yourself lots of extra time to get here in the event that you get stuck in the construction traffic. If you are going to be late to your appointment due to this, please call us ASAP so we can adjust our schedule if at all required.

We are unsure as to how long the paving will be going on, but the last report stated it would be just this week.

Thank-you!

🐾 Tick Awareness Month 🐾

Ticks are more than just a nuisance — they can transmit serious diseases to both pets and people. As the weather warms up, tick activity rises, and even a quick walk through grass or woods can lead to exposure.

Here’s how to protect your pet:
✔️ Use veterinarian-recommended tick prevention year-round
✔️ Check your pet daily after outdoor time (ears, neck, paws, belly, tail)
✔️ Keep grass and brush trimmed at home
✔️ Remove ticks promptly and safely

If you find a tick or notice symptoms like lethargy, limping, fever, or loss of appetite, contact us right away. Early treatment makes all the difference.

Prevention is easier (and safer) than treatment — we’re happy to help you choose the best protection plan for your pet.

From first checkups to lifelong care ❤️ — we’re here every step of the way.
Beginning at 8 weeks, puppies start their vaccination series alongside developmental exams to monitor growth and health🩺. Consistent deworming protocols are also key to protecting them during early life 🪱.
These little ones are off to a strong, healthy start! 🥰Thinking about adding a new addition to your family? Give us a call — we’re happy to guide you every step of the way.

Dr Prime has over 25 years experience with orthopedics, and one surgery that we do quite often here at Countryside is a cranial cruciate repair!

A cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) rupture is a painful injury that can affect one or both knees in dogs and cats. The CCL can be either partially or completely torn, and also usually involves damage to the medial mensicus. This injury is similar to a torn ACL in people!

There are many methods available for veterinarians to repair a torn CCL. Dr. Prime performs what’s called an “Extracapsular Repair” here - where the damaged CCL and meniscus are removed, and a false surgical ligament is placed to remove instability in the knee and tighten the joint capsule down. This method works for any size of dog or cat, and has a very high success rate!

Here are some “behind the scenes” photos of a patient being prepped for surgery, and a closeup look at what the extracapsular repair looks like with the false ligament secured with two surgical crimps. This particular patient had a completely torn right CCL and a torn meniscus - she did amazing through surgery and is now on the road to recovery thanks to the expertise of Dr. Prime! 💞🐶🐾🩺

Do you suspect your pet has a torn CCL, or other orthopedic issue (patella luxation, fracture, hip dysplasia, etc)? We would be happy to assist you! We do accept referrals from your veterinarian, as well as inquiries of your own. Give us a call at 506-363-3307! 😄
