Makwa is perfect for anyone looking for a winter companion or ice fishing partner. He is at peace outside in the snow and is happy when he gets his tummy rubs. He is 9 years old and is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. He walks very nicely on a leash and is quiet in the house. He is low maintenance and has never attempted to damage furniture when left alone. This easy going, cuddly man is ready to fill his forever home with love, laughs, and lots of tail wags.

FOSTERING MATTERS. Please consider fostering Makwa! We need a temporary foster home starting Dec 6. If you have the capacity to foster for even just a week please message! He is currently scheduled into a kennel but that is not ideal for him! Before coming to A Dogs Life Fostering Network Kenora Ontario vs after is night and day. He is still petrified of dogs so if he has to go to a kennel his progress is sure to decline.

He’s calm, gentle, and absolutely thrives on quiet walks, soft places to nap, and big bear hugs.

• Neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated
• House-trained, doesn’t beg or chew things
• SUPER chill — happy to snooze on the couch or wander around the yard

• A sucker for snow and belly rubs
• Not interested in other pets (he’s a one-animal kinda guy)

He is a true solo creature - so he needs a foster home with no other dogs or cats. He's earned his peace and prefers the quiet life. Think of him like a wise old bear who wants his cave all to himself (plus snacks and cuddles, of course). He’s calm, gentle, and absolutely thrives on quiet walks, soft places to nap, and big bear hugs.

Makwa is about 7 years old and has been in foster care for 6 months now, waiting so patiently for someone to finally adopt him. He’s calm, gentle, and absolutely thrives on quiet walks, soft places to nap, and big bear hugs.

He didn’t have an easy start to life. He’s got some scars to show for it and takes arthritis meds to help him stay comfy. But don’t let that fool you: he still has years of adventures and love to give.

Makwa might just be the dog you’ve been waiting for! At 7 years old, Makwa is a calm and easygoing pup who loves the snow and enjoys his tummy rubs just as much as his outdoor adventures. Whether it’s a peaceful stroll in the crisp air or cuddling up on the couch, Makwa is the perfect companion for anyone looking for a dog to make memories with.

A Little About Makwa
• Health: Neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. Older but has shown that he has years of outdoor adventures left in him.
• Personality: Quiet, low-maintenance, and affectionate. He’s content to relax indoors and enjoys leisurely walks. He’s also very well-behaved, uninterested in human food, and has never damaged furniture when left alone.
• Special Qualities: While he may have some scars from his past (including a slit in his left ear and a limp in his left leg), those little marks are just a reminder of how resilient he is.
• Socialization: He’s not a fan of other dogs and can be protective or scared around them, but he’s getting better at adjusting. He was able to get along with a 9-week-old foster brother after a period of adjustment, so he’s open to the right match.
• Leash Walks: Makwa is a pleasure to walk — he’s calm and walks beautifully on a leash. We have not tested him off-leash but would expect with continued training he will be great at recall commands.

Makwa may have had a rough start in life, but he’s ready to put that behind him and be the loving, loyal companion you’ve been looking for. 🥰 His easygoing nature and love for the outdoors make him the perfect winter buddy. Plus, he’ll fill your home with love, laughter, and plenty of tail wags!
