Labour Day Weekend 🐴

We’ll be taking a little break for Labour Day weekend! 🇨🇦

Our clinics will be closed Monday, September 7th so our team can enjoy a well-deserved long weekend.

As always, our emergency service remains available for our clients. 🐄🐎

Don’t Forget Rabies! 🦠🐾

This time of year, we spend a lot of time talking about protecting our animals from mosquito-borne diseases—and for good reason! But there’s another serious disease we shouldn’t forget about: rabies.

Rabies is fatal, can affect all mammals—including our livestock—and there is no treatment once clinical signs develop. Vaccination is one of the best ways we can protect our animals, our farms and the people who work with them.

While rabies vaccination is often discussed for dogs and cats, the same concern applies to our large animals too. Horses, cattle, sheep, goats and other livestock can all be exposed.

So while you’re thinking about West Nile, EEE and other mosquito-borne diseases this summer, take a moment to make sure rabies protection is on your list too. 💉

Talk to your veterinarian about whether rabies vaccination is appropriate for your animals and how to keep your herd protected.

Farm Dog Friday 🐾☀️

Meet Reina (mom), Tess & Mica (daughters)— two generations of German Shorthair Pointers who live (and let’s be honest, rule) one of our clients’ horse farms! 👑🐶

These three girls know exactly how to enjoy a summer day: together, soaking up the sunshine and keeping a very important eye on farm operations. 😂☀️

While the doctors and students are out here enjoying ice cream, butter tarts and whatever else they can find, the office staff are left behind… slaving away with nothing but an empty bowl, an empty cone and our shattered dreams. 😂

🍦 Dr. Gardner’s turn for ice cream! 🍦

At this point, we’re starting to wonder if there’s an unofficial ice cream club happening around here… and apparently Dr. Gardner has officially joined! 😂

But the real question is… can anyone guess who is feeling VERY left out of all these treats? 👀🍦

🦊 “Excuse me, I was told this was the all-you-can-sniff buffet?”

This speckled little fox made itself right at home in the horse pasture today, happily romping around and conducting what appeared to be a very important inspection of the premises. 🧐

The horses watched. The fox explored. Nobody paid rent.

Just another normal day in the countryside! 😂

Public service announcement: if you’re assigned to ride with Dr. Aitken… you will leave with a newfound appreciation for sheep and goats. 🐑🐐

We’re starting to suspect she’s running a covert recruitment program. One farm call at a time, our veterinary students are being converted into small ruminant enthusiasts—and honestly, they never stood a chance.

Resistance is futile when there are lambs and kids involved. 💚
