So glad we grabbed the last bit of sun on Friday after work. Also, so thankful to see the rain. What did everyone else get up to this weekend.

Get out there and train in the real stuff. I wonder if my neighbourhood dogs know that they’re very helpful when they bark at us.

Dogs barking. People walking. Cyclists passing. Busy streets. These are all opportunities for your dog to learn neutrality.

The best-behaved dogs aren’t necessarily the ones who’ve avoided distractions—they’re often the ones who have seen it all and learned that the world isn’t something to get excited about.

Expose them. Teach them. Then let them learn to just be.

Sometimes the best way to help a dog who feels unsure around other dogs is to simply give them space.

When we don’t allow them to feel crowded or pressured, they don’t feel like they have to control the space around them. Creating that safe space gives them the opportunity to relax, build confidence, and learn that other dogs don’t have to be a threat. And once they feel safe, they’re much more likely to let their guard down, enjoy themselves, and even make some great new friends.

Puppy push-ups with Nanuq!

This handsome young guy has joined us for some training , and he is such a joy to work with. Eager to learn, full of enthusiasm, and always ready for a reward!

Puppy push-ups (practicing sit and down) are a fun, engaging way to build the foundations of training. Keeping sessions short, using plenty of food rewards, and ending with a little celebration helps create positive learning experiences and keeps your puppy excited to train.

Way to go, Nanuq!
