WE HAVE SOME VERY BIG NEWS. ❤️

After a long period of waiting, uncertainty, planning and hoping, we are so incredibly happy to finally share that we have received approval for the non-farm use of our property at 1853 Munson Road.

This means we can move forward with confidence in the future of the farm and, ultimately, our plans to build a new home for Kelowna Veterinary Hospital there.

For us, this approval means so much more than permission to build.
Over the past year, we have poured so much into this property. We’ve grown our farm, raised our hens, planted crops and trees, learned a LOT along the way, and started imagining what this little piece of Kelowna could become. But throughout all of that, there has always been uncertainty about whether we would actually be able to stay and build the future we envisioned there.
Now, we finally get to look forward.

We can continue growing the farm knowing that we are building something we hope will be here for generations. And we can begin working toward an incredible new veterinary facility designed to care for all animals, from the smallest family pets to the large animals and livestock that are such an important part of our agricultural community.

There is still lots of work ahead before we are ready to build, but this was the big hurdle we needed to clear. And we cleared it. ❤️

To everyone who has asked for updates, encouraged us, supported the farm, bought our eggs, shared kind words or simply crossed their fingers alongside us, thank you. Your kindness during what has been a really challenging period of uncertainty has meant more to our team than you probably realize.

2026 marks 80 years of Kelowna Veterinary Hospital.
Now we get to start building toward the next 80. 🐾🌱

We’re staying on Munson Road. And we cannot wait to show you what comes next.

We’re so excited to officially introduce the newest veterinarian to the KVH team, Dr. Emily Varga!

Emily is originally from Edmonton but spent much of her childhood growing up in Hong Kong, where she later went on to complete veterinary school. After graduating, she spent two years working in equine practice, gaining experience in both Hong Kong and New Zealand. That early experience with horses helped build her love for large animal medicine and ultimately shaped her interest in mixed animal practice.

Emily joined the KVH team in August 2026, and she has already fit right in. One of the things she loves most about veterinary medicine is the variety. She genuinely enjoys seeing whatever comes through the door and loves that no two days in mixed animal practice are ever quite the same. From routine appointments to more unusual cases, small animals to large animals, she’s always excited to see what the day brings.

Outside of work, Emily enjoys hiking, paddleboarding and reading, so she’s a pretty perfect fit for life in the Okanagan. At home, she also has one very important companion, her cat Tubs.

We’re incredibly happy to have Emily as part of the KVH team and are excited for our clients and patients to get to know her. If you see her around the clinic, make sure to say hello and give her a warm KVH welcome! 💙

A little update to our post from August 8 ❤️

The wildfires are still very active, and for many people across the Okanagan, the uncertainty is far from over. Some families are still displaced and may be facing weeks before they are able to return home.

We want everyone to know that the support we offered at the beginning of this emergency is still available.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Hill’s Pet Nutrition and Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets we still have pet food available for people who have been displaced and need help feeding their animals.

We also still have space available on our farm to accommodate larger animals and livestock if needed. A huge thank you again to for volunteering their time and resources to build the fencing that has made this possible. They also bought the fence posts and that beautiful little gate 😍Truly glorious people who just wanted to do anything that they could to help. Look them up for your civil, agricultural and forestry needs. 😊

If you have been evacuated and your animal needs food, medication, veterinary care, advice, or somewhere safe to go, please reach out. Even if you’re not sure whether we can help, give us a call or send us a message and we will do everything we can.
Please continue to share this so it reaches the people who may need it most. ❤️

It was the HUMAN who stole the pizza. 😂🍕

We spend all day warning owners about what their pets might get into, meanwhile apparently our own staff cannot be trusted around unattended food.

❤️ AN UPDATE THAT HAS LEFT US FEELING INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL ❤️

Yesterday, we put out a call to our community because we needed help getting a fence built quickly so that we could safely welcome animals displaced by the wildfires.

And once again, this community showed us exactly who it is.

The incredible team at RONA Kelowna Springfield RONA has stepped forward and provided us with the supplies we need to build the fence. We cannot begin to express how grateful we are for their generosity and willingness to help us get this space ready for animals that need somewhere safe to land.

And then came the people.

We were contacted by so many members of our community offering their time, experience, equipment and hands to help us build. People who didn’t know us personally, but saw a need and simply asked, “How can we help?”

Today, we received a call from Taylor at CRL Group Holdings, who is coming to meet us at the farm tomorrow morning with the hope of getting this fence erected and ready to welcome animals in need.

We are genuinely overwhelmed with gratitude.

There is something incredibly special about watching a community show up for one another like this. During a time when so many people are facing uncertainty, displacement and fear, people are still looking around and asking what they can do to help someone else and their animals.

Because of RONA Kelowna Springfield, Taylor and the team at CRL Group Holdings, and every single person who messaged, called, shared our post, tagged someone or offered to pick up a tool and help, we are one enormous step closer to having a safe space ready.

We have the land.

We have veterinary teams ready to help.

We have people ready to care for the animals who come through our gates.

And now, thanks to this extraordinary community, we are going to have the fence too. ❤️

From all of us, thank you.

Thank you for showing up.

Thank you for caring.

And thank you for reminding us just how fortunate we are to be part of a community that comes together for its people and its animals when they need it most.

🚨 KELOWNA — WE COULD USE SOME PRACTICAL HELP, ASAP 🚨

With the current wildfire situation, we are working alongside the BC SPCA and individuals in our community to help animals who are being evacuated, displaced or who may need veterinary care.

We have space available on our property that we want to turn into a safe place for evacuated animals to land and for injured animals to be cared for — but we need to get a fence up as soon as possible.

The good news is, it’s a relatively straightforward job. The area is less than half an acre and essentially just needs one straight run of secure fencing with a gate.

Right now, our team’s time and attention needs to be focused on preparing to support the animals and people who may need us throughout this wildfire crisis. So rather than trying to source materials and organize a fencing project ourselves, we thought we would put the call out to our community.

We’d love to hear from a local fencing company, contractor or supplier who may be able to help with materials and/or installation — or from anyone with fencing experience who might be able to lend a hand.

It doesn’t need to be fancy. It just needs to be safe, secure and ready for the animals who may need somewhere to go.

We have the space. We have veterinary teams ready to help. We have people ready to care for them.

We just need a hand getting this final piece in place. ❤️🐾

If you can help, please send us a message. And if you know someone who might be able to, please tag them or share this post so we can get this built as quickly as possible.

Thank you, Kelowna. ❤️

PLEASE SHARE TO REACH PEOPLE IN NEED

❤️ To our Okanagan community, please stay safe.

We’re thinking of everyone affected by the wildfires and evacuations. We know how stressful it is to suddenly have to leave your home, especially when you’re trying to get all of your animals somewhere safe.

If you’ve been evacuated and your pet needs medication, food, veterinary care, or advice, please give us a call or text. We’ll do our best to help however we can.

For those with farm animals or livestock, please reach out to us as well. We can look at each situation on a case-by-case basis and see what support or resources we can offer.

FOUND CAT — WEST KELOWNA 💔

This morning, a cat was found after appearing to have been struck by a vehicle on the Westside, on the route toward Kelowna, between the Shell gas station and Friends Pub.

Some truly incredible people stopped what they were doing, picked him up, and rushed him straight to the veterinary hospital they know and trust. They gave this little cat every possible chance simply because he needed someone to help him.

Sadly, despite their efforts and everything our team could do, we were not able to save him.

He was a black, domestic short-haired cat with no obvious distinguishing markings. Unfortunately, he did not have a microchip, collar or tattoo, so we have no way of knowing where he belonged or who may be looking for him.

We know that somewhere, there may be a family searching for their cat and wondering why he hasn’t come home. We’re hoping that, through the power of our community and social media, we can at least find his people and give them some answers and closure.

If you believe this may be your cat, or you know someone missing a black cat from this area, please reach out to Kelowna Veterinary Hospital directly. We can provide further details privately to help confirm identification.

Please share this post, particularly with anyone living in the West Kelowna area.

And to the people who stopped, scooped up a cat they didn’t know, interrupted their own day and rushed him to safety — thank you. He wasn’t alone when he needed help most.

We are so very sorry to the family who loved him. 💔
