🌸 Spring time is here! 🌸

….With Spring brings spring toxins to our pets!

PLANTS 🪴

Lilies: ⚠️
👉 Lillies are extremely toxic to cats, even in the smallest amounts. If your cat ingests even the smallest amount this is considered an emergency. They can cause acute Kidney failure.

Daffodils: ⚠️
👉 Bulbs are the most toxic, they cause severe GI upset. Can cause heart rhythm issues as well as tremors.

Tulips and Hyacinths: ⚠️
👉Most toxic part of these plants is the bulb. Can cause Vomiting, drooling and diarrhea. Large ingestions can cause heart rhythm issues as well.

Sage Palm: ⚠️
👉Highly toxic. Will cause liver failure, has a high fatality rate without quick treatment.

LAWN & GARDEN CHEMICALS 🌱

Fertilizers and Herbicides: ⚠️
👉Most can cause mild GI upset to mild irruption.

PEST CONTROL & RODENTICIDES 🐀

Slug and Snail bait: ⚠️
👉Very Dangerous. Will cause tremors and seizures. Emergency treatment is required quickly.

Rat/Mouse Poison: ⚠️
👉Different types can cause internal bleeding, seizures and or kidney failure. This is always an emergency.

Ant and Roach Baits: ⚠️
👉Low risk unless a large amount ingested.

INSECTS & WILDLIFE 🐝

Bees and Wasps: ⚠️
👉 Facial swelling is most common. Emergency if your pet starts having problems breathing.

Ticks: ⚠️
👉 Active in the spring, can transmit Lyme disease

Blue-Green Algae: ⚠️
👉 Can cause rapid liver failure. Most common in stagnant water.

When you need to call us immediately: ‼️

-Tremors or seizures
-Sudden lethargy
-Repeated vomiting
-Pale gums
-Breathing difficulty
-Known ingestion to lily, sago palm, rodenticide or slug bait

Did you know that there is a poison control for pets?❗️ASPCA poison control website has a full list of plants that are toxic to you pets. As well as they have emergency phone number to call if you ever need to know what to do if your pet ingests something toxic.
