If you’re a returning customer, you probably already know the excitement we’re talking about — that moment your dog realizes exactly where they are and can’t wait to get out of the car. 🐾 And we promise, the feeling is mutual.

One of our favourite things about keeping our numbers small is getting to truly know each dog on a personal level. When they stay with us time and time again, they really do become part of our extended family — and if we’ve had your dog multiple times, there’s a pretty good chance we’ve grown to love them. 🤎

We get to know their routines, their comfort zones and all those quirky little traits that make them them. The fetch fanatic, the professional sniffer, the cuddle bug, the one who needs a little extra time to warm up, and the ones who come through the gate like they own the place. 😂

Every dog is different, and that’s genuinely one of our favourite parts of what we do.

Getting to know them allows us to tailor their stay and shape their days around what works best for them — because we don’t want your dog to simply stay here.

We want them to feel like they belong here. 🌻🐾

Leaving your dog behind — especially for the very first time — is a big deal. We never take for granted the trust that comes with someone choosing us to care for a member of their family.

Our goal has always been to create a place that feels different from traditional boarding. A place where we have the time to learn each dog’s routines, get to know their personality, keep their family connected throughout their stay, and make them feel as comfortable and at home as possible.

Knowing that Gigi’s family was able to enjoy their travels with peace of mind — and that we’ve officially become her “home away from home” — is the kind of feedback that reminds us exactly why we do what we do. 🤎

Guest Highlight: Meet Hunny & Zed! 🐾

Meet Hunny, a 2-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier, and Zed, a newly 4-year-old American Bully! 🥰 These two are back for their second stay with us, and they’ve been all smiles from the moment they arrived.

They’ve been loving their solo yard time together, stretching their legs, exploring, and of course soaking up ALL the lovings from us. Just look at those happy faces! 😍

With the smoky days limiting some of our outdoor fun, we’ve been keeping them busy with a little extra indoor enrichment — and peanut butter lick mats have been a HUGE hit! 🥜🐾

We’re so happy to have Hunny & Zed back with us and getting another chance to love on these two sweethearts! 🌻🖤

It’s more than just a saying — it’s something we genuinely believe in.

Cuddles & Trails and Cedar & Sunflowers may offer different styles of pet care, but at the end of the day, we have the same goal: making sure pets in our community are safe, happy, loved, and cared for in the way that works best for them. 🖤

Sometimes that means in-home care. Sometimes boarding is the better fit. And sometimes it simply means pointing someone toward the right option — even when that option isn’t us.

There is room for good businesses to support one another, cheer each other on, and work together.

One of the questions we get asked most is…

“Why do you only have four suites?”

The answer is simple.

Because we never wanted Cedar & Sunflowers to become a place where dogs are just another booking on the calendar.

While we’re incredibly excited to be expanding into our brand-new building this fall with eight private suites, one thing will never change: our commitment to keeping our numbers intentionally small.

We’re growing so we can welcome a few more wonderful families—not so we can become a high-volume facility.

By caring for only a small number of dogs at a time, we’re able to truly get to know every guest who stays with us. We learn their little quirks, their favourite games, whether they prefer to explore first or cuddle first, which treats make them light up, and what helps them feel safe when they’re away from home.

Some dogs thrive with other dogs.
Some prefer one-on-one adventures.
Some need extra reassurance on day one.
Others settle in like they’ve lived here forever.

When we’re caring for a small group of dogs, we have the time to notice those things—and tailor their stay around them.

It also means we can keep you connected while you’re away. You’ll receive personalized updates, photos, and videos because we genuinely have the time to capture those special moments, not because it’s part of a checklist.

We know a boutique boarding experience isn’t the right fit for everyone—and that’s okay.

🐾 Guest Highlight: Packer & Beau 🐾

There’s something so incredibly special about earning the trust of a nervous dog. ❤️

Packer is a sweet boy who is very selective with his people and finds new environments a little overwhelming. Saying goodbye to Mom and Dad was definitely the hardest part of his stay, and he wasn’t too sure about us at first.

With plenty of patience, one-on-one attention, and the time he needed to settle in at his own pace, Packer slowly started to realize this wasn’t such a scary place after all. Before long, he was wagging his tail, enjoying pets, and having an absolute blast exploring with his sister Beau during their private yard time.

One of the things we love most about our setup is that dogs like Packer never have to face the added stress of meeting or being around unfamiliar dogs. Their own private suite and yard allowed him to relax, build confidence, and simply enjoy his vacation in a way that was comfortable for him.

By the end of their stay, both Packer and Beau had settled in beautifully, and watching Packer’s confidence grow was such a rewarding experience for us. ❤️

🐾 Our guests’ health always comes first.

Wildfire smoke can affect our dogs just like it affects us, especially during active play and adventure hikes.

That’s why when the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) reaches 7 or higher, we’ll adjust our daily routine to keep every guest safe and comfortable.

Instead of adventure hikes and energetic play sessions, you can expect:
🌲 Calm sniff walks around the yard
🧩 Extra indoor enrichment and one-on-one attention
🛏️ Plenty of time to relax in our climate-controlled suites

One thing that doesn’t change is that every guest still has access to their own private outdoor yard through their suite, giving them the freedom to head outside whenever they’d like for a potty break, sniff, stretch, or simply to relax in the fresh air as conditions allow.

Every dog is different, and we’ll always tailor our day to the conditions and the individual dogs in our care. Our goal isn’t simply to get outside—it’s to make the best decisions for the health, safety, and well-being of every guest.

Guest Highlight: Gus 🐾

This sweet 8-year-old Labrador Retriever × Bernese Mountain Dog mix is staying with us for his very first visit, and what a wonderful guest he’s been.

Watching a new dog settle in and start to feel comfortable is one of our favourite parts of what we do, and Gus has made himself right at home. Whether he’s making new friends, exploring the yard, or taking some quiet time to relax, he’s been enjoying every moment at his own pace. 🌻

It’s safe to say Gus has been soaking up every minute of his doggy vacation, and we couldn’t be happier to have him here. 🖤
