Happy National Cat Day! Today, we're celebrating the wonderful feline friends who make our days brighter and our hearts fuller. From kittens to seniors and everyone in between, each cat has their own unique personality and we're so grateful to be part of their healthcare journey.

Feel free to share a photo of your cat in the comments and tell us what makes them special - we'd love to celebrate them with you! 😸

A lovely client of ours reached out as they're trying to rehome this absolute sweet potato of a boy, Miso! While they wish they could keep him, they already have a cat and this fluffy man needs to be in a household where he's the only feline.

We are posting this on our client's behalf; Miso is not at our clinic and we will only provide their contact info to serious enquiries. Let's get this precious boy adopted!

It's Adopt A Shelter Pet Day! While this is a celebration of rescue animals, it’s also an important reminder of the growing number of pets in shelters and foster care across British Columbia.

Rescue organizations throughout BC are facing overwhelming demand, now more than ever. More animals are being surrendered, abandoned or born without homes, while shelters and foster networks continue to operate at or beyond capacity. This is why, today, we're choosing to feature ten pages of different animals currently in shelters across the province. The pets featured in these photos are just a small number of the many animals currently looking for forever homes; some are young, some are seniors, and some have spent months (or even longer) waiting for someone to choose them.

Adoption changes more than just a life; it gives an animal a future, opens space for another pet in need and helps support the rescues working so hard to keep up with this growing crisis. If you’re able to adopt, foster, volunteer, donate or even simply share these animals with others, your support truly makes a difference. Please take a moment today to learn about the rescues featured in this post and the animals currently available for adoption throughout BC - your next family member may be waiting for you! ❤️

📍 Please contact the individual rescue or shelter directly for adoption information, applications and to see even more available pets.

Archer came to see us for his last set of puppy boosters yesterday and was such a brave boy! We can't believe how stunning those blue eyes are - our techs had to use all their strength not to sneak this handsome man home with them because he didn't want to leave!

No one likes to think about end of life care for their pet, but one of the best things you can do for your aging animal is be prepared for what comes after, including how you would like their remains handled when the time comes.

If you're thinking that you'd like your pet to be cremated, there are two crematoriums available: Okanagan Pet Cremation, located in Oyama, and Rest Assure Pet Cremation, located just 30 minutes outside of Kamloops at Shumway Lake. Let's go into both in a little more detail:

Okanagan Pet Cremation has been around since 1996 and is IAOPCC-accredited; they're situated on a fourth-generation farmstead that offers both communal and private cremation. If you're wanting to pursue communal cremation (where you don't get ashes back), your pet's ashes will be scattered over their apple orchard that can be visited year-round. They've partnered with countless vet clinics throughout BC -ours included- to allow direct pick up from said clinics, though you can always contact them to schedule a drop off if you'd like to bring your pet directly to them yourself.

Closer to home, Rest Assure Pet Cremation is located a half hour out of town and fills the void that was left when Kamloops closed down its municipal pet cremation services. Owners wanting to go through this crematorium must contact them directly to arrange a time to drop off their pet's remains as they do not offer pick up services from clinics unless scheduled in advance with the clinic's approval. Rest Assure also offers both communal and private cremation services, with communal ashes being scattered on their field overlooking the gorgeous Shumway Lake.

We wanted to share this info not to make anyone uncomfortable with end of life care, but to shine a light on a difficult topic so that you can feel as comfortable as possible with your decision. Know that no matter which crematorium you choose, your pet's remains will be treated with the utmost respect by staff who understand and have been there. ❤

A chiweenie? In our clinic? Nope, nobody here but us bunnies! 🐰

While Jagger was relaxing into sedation for his neuter, his ears were flopping around so our techs had to hold them away from his face; this resulted in him looking like the cutest rabbit! And look at that little smile!
