Happy RVT Week!

This week, we want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate our incredible Registered Veterinary Technologists (RVTs)!

Working in emergency medicine takes a special kind of person. Our RVTs bring knowledge, skill, compassion, quick thinking, and dedication to every shift. From managing critical patients and assisting with emergency procedures to comforting worried pet owners and supporting one another through challenging cases, they are an essential part of everything we do.

Emergency veterinary medicine can be unpredictable, demanding, and emotional, and we are so grateful for the people who show up every day (and night!) ready to give their patients the very best care possible.

A special thank you to our amazing RVTs at Phases, as well as the incredible RVTs throughout our Kamloops veterinary community. We are fortunate to work alongside so many talented, compassionate, and dedicated people who make a difference in the lives of animals and the people who love them. Veterinary medicine truly takes a team, and we appreciate all of you! ❤️

To all RVTs: thank you for your hard work, expertise, resilience, and the compassion you bring to this profession. You are valued more than you know!

🐍 July 16th is World Snake Day! 🐍

From small corn snakes to impressive pythons, snakes come in an incredible variety of shapes, sizes, and colours, and they can be found all over the world. They can also be found in many homes, as snakes have become a popular pet amongst reptile enthusiasts.

While snakes are often thought of as low-maintenance pets, they actually require specialized care to thrive. Proper heating, lighting, humidity, nutrition, and enclosure setup all play an important role in keeping pet snakes healthy, and ensuring they have a good quality of life. It is also important to ensure that you have a veterinarian who is familiar and comfortable with snake medical care, should the need arise.

Did you know that here at PVEH we have our very own clinic pet - a corn snake named Rigatoni? Rigatoni was adopted from the BC SPCA in November 2024 and lives in a large, bioactive enclosure in our reception area. Stop by to say hi and see if you can spot him hanging out amongst the greenery! In his spare time, Rigatoni likes to help our team members become more comfortable with snake handling and husbandry.

Today, we're shedding some appreciation for our scaly friends.
