An important reminder: A local family recently found a bat inside their home. The bat was tested and came back positive for rabies. Thankfully, no one was hurt, and we as staff took all precautions—but it’s a powerful reminder of why ALL pets need rabies vaccinations, even if they never go outside.
Bats and other wildlife can enter homes through chimneys, attics, or small openings. Indoor pets can still be exposed, and rabies is almost always fatal once symptoms appear.
Keeping your pets up to date on rabies vaccines protects your pets, your family, and your community.
If you find a bat in your home, don’t touch it—keep people and pets away and contact animal control or your local health department.
